The do have human DNA however (think of them like a Cyborg), so at least in theory they could reproduce if they have gonads.
That Is the only thing saving humanity, otherwise we will be usurped by those abominations :)

Where shall be sail to next, sir?
What I fear, however, is that their incompetence (or their reckless extravagence, whichever comes first) has inadvertantly created synths that don't recognize any merit to this distinction that then go around thinking they deserve equal (perhaps greater given their boastful capabilities) rights.
For I believe a creation's purpose is whatever its creator designs it to be, certainly not as equal to the creator.
Synths are neither sentient nor identical or equal to human beings. They are machines who act out the routine given to them by humans and who lack the ability to truly reflect upon themselves and to create.
The strongest case for this is near the end of the game.
When Shaun gave you the synth version of his 10 year old self, is it the same thing? No it is just a robot. The real Shaun is gone forever. Trying to relive your lost years of your son with a robot is a cruel lie.
