Out Of The Fire side quest broken [maybe minor spoilers]

Hi!
I have done almost everything in this quest, and, while reporting to Abraham Finch, a bloatfly came into scene and everyone started fighting it, inchuding him. Now, instead of getting the "Quest completed" status and allying with the farm (which I guess should happen if you complete this kind of quests), I still have the status Return Abraham Finch's sword to him at Finch Farm and he has the marker on top of his head, but when talking to him, he just gives me the generic "You're welcome at my farm anytime, friend!". I have tried using the "completequest" command, and that completes it, but the farm remains unallied. I have no prior savegame, and didn't find a way to reset the quest or something. Is there anything else I can do?

I can only give you the advice to save often. If you forget about it, turn on Autosave. Unless you have a save from not much earlier, never overwrite a savegame, always make a new one.

Other than that I sadly have no idea what else you could do.

Sounds like you are boned. You don't have any save to go back to?

Load up a save with the bugged quest then.........

resetquest 00026340

This should zero out the quest so you can do it again.

Thank you, MustardJeep! The resetquest removed command it from my PipBoy, and maybe it will be available in the future. At least, it's not bugged anymore.

Similar thing is happening to me. I walk into the main forge at the very end of the quest, the game immediately cuts to a cutscene, and then almost immediately after breaks from that cutscene as Jake Finch starts shooting at me while all the other enemies just stand there, names still green. I tried rolling back to an earlier save that starts at the beginning of the Forge (when you first enter the building) and it appears the quest is STILL bugged for me. This time when I enter the last part, there is no cutscene, and everyone just immediately starts shooting at me.

Frustrating, to say the least. I'll have to try the above method and see if it fixes my problem.
