Anyone found a way to "fix" all objects in a settlement on PC yet?
It's getting really annoying -- I started another playthrough, finished every know quests for me (barring the radiant quests ofc) before The Glowing Sea. No other outstanding issues. Sanctuary was attacked and defended.

Then I went and explored the glowing sea, re-discovered all landmarks known to me, no "settlement underattack" message nor quest pop ups (I actually check my quest log quite frequently). Went back, went to Sturges (yes this is a MM playthrough), went into the institute, did ♥♥♥♥ in it, got out and went Synth hunting.

Afterwards I checked my workshop status, Castle has 0 settler. Went there, found out all 8 people are still there, but every thing else broke -- generates, turrets, guard posts, etc.

Ignoring the fact that I don't even know how it got wrecked, that settlement has almost 170 defense, that's a couple dozen turrets and guard posts to go through. Is there a way to fix all? Even with console commands?

A few of us have experienced this bug. Several times now I've had a "Defend [settlement] Failed" yet there was never such a Quest. Basically, the player gets zero notification of an attack and no entry in the Quest log, all we get is the "Failed" notification when it's too late.

Now, as I save very regularly, I've been able to easily go back and confirm all this - so no Quest log entry 100% confirmed, yet travelling to the location there is indeed an attack. Problem is, even if you have a save so you get load and older game after seeing the "failed" message, there's no guarantee you won't end up with a wrecked settlement due to another bug.

This additional bug, which I suspect we've all had at least once, is where you DO successfully defend a settlement, and even get a "thanks" dialogue from one of the settlers, yet is doesn't clear from your Quest log. Travelling away from what you believe to be your successfully defended settlement - you got the "thanks" dialogue after all - will see you "fail" at a later point.

To fix this aspect of the bug - this has worked for me - you need to kill all visible invaders, get the "thanks" dialogue from a settler, then move a short distance from the settlement before fast travelling back. For me, every time I do this I arrive back at my settlement and ONE additional attacker spawns right in the middle of said settlement. I've had Raiders, Super Mutants and Ghouls spawn in this way, so it's not always a Synth infiltration, though that happens too of course.

Sometimes, despite all this and using all the work arounds listed, you'll still occasionally find a settlement has been script-wrecked. I had Finch Farm wrecked in this way recently, defences down, generator out of action, 90% of crops destroyed plus three of the "Finch" named NPC's dead along with the provisioner supplying Finch Farm as well as the one going from Finch Farm to the next settlement in my supply chain. All this despite me successfully defending Finch Farm, getting the "Thanks" dialogue for it, then moving away and fast travelling back to kill the "extra" spawned attacker and having the mission complete properly with a message pop-up on the screen.

So yeah, sadly there are a number of bugs in relation to these Quests, varying from zero notification, to phantom attackers to simple script-destruction of settlement items.

I think, if I play through again before these issues are fixed, I'll largely ignore ALL settlement building. Sure, I'll create a home for myself, but no recruitment beacon, no food etc. etc. Being constantly messaged in the middle of doing other things to rush back to defend a settlement is a pain, even when the quests work properly. Add to that these settlements are perfectly capable of defending themselves (very high defence) yet still appear to be scripted to "loose" and take damage if the player doesn't show up is annoying.

Try this...
Save the game, now systematically kill everyone in that settlement, and see if one of those "settlers" has a "Synth Component" on them.

That's the cause of random stuff breaking down.

Had it in 2 of my settlements (Starlight Drive & Sanctuary) like continiously, I saved, killed everyone till I found the Synth, reloaded, and send the Synth to a "Synth Only Settlement", never... ever... had problems again.

p.s. : yes even bhramin and other animals CAN be Synths, I am -not- joking.

I had random breakage on actuallyopening the workshop, half my stuff broke, just like that, went into build mode and 'pop', only had one settler, test killed her, no component, so, I'm guessing it can just all glitch out.

Yeah, I had that. I happened to be already in one of my settlements when suddenly the settlers and turrets when crazy. At first I didn't know what they were shooting at. Sure, I saw Brahmin running, but assumed it was simply fleeing from something. It's only when it slowly wandered back into the settlement and my turrets ripped it to shreds that I realised it was the target. On inspection of the corpse (lots of chunks lol) I found Synth Components.

Note: I've been in settlements of mine before, usually just hanging around doing other bits, when suddenly everyone and my turrets have targeted another settler who turns out to be a synth.

So, the question is, how did my settlers and turrets know this was a Synth?

No idea Scoob, and it sounds exactly the same of what I have been seeing, ever since I now and then save my game and kill everybody, till I find synths which I send to the boat house settlement. (my designated Synth haven).
After that... well, I don't care really they are safe in the boat house, which doesnt have much use for me, I even went as far as to create Red Rocket as my recruiting centre (active signal), and "test" all subjects there first before sending them to a proper settlement.

Another reason, other then Synths, could be the Brotherhood air patrols, these things seem to randomly go wonky and crash, if they crash on your settlement then that stuff breaks down instantly, by the time you get back to that settlement, the wreckage has been cleared again leaving nothing but randomly broken equipment.

Hi
I sadly had the same problem twice now without any quest notification at all.
My settlement displays zero settlers on the map tooltip, when i travel there almost everything is broken. The first time I just loaded an older save state but now it pisses me of somehow ;)
I really dont want to use "cheats" in general, but i also dont want to farm all that scrap again due to bugs.

So: Is there any console command to fix one / all objects???

thx

Edit: killed all settlers / animals ... no synths
