If anyone needed for a cure to the Molerat Disease, here it is
!Possible minor spoilers!

If you've done the Vault 81 mission and was so gracious to hand out the molerate cure, you wouldn't be able to cure yourself for a persistent molerate disease that no doctor in the Commonwealth can cure (at least I haven't found any)

So here it is. Use the console command and type in

player.additem 00055F10

You should be able to find the cure in the "Aid" section of PIP Boy, and use it to cure yourself.

It's a one time heal if you keep it for yourself. Pretty pointless.

My main issue with the cure is that sure, the materials needed to make it aren't in the vault anymore, but what about outside? Can't Curie just whip up a batch in Sanctuary, or do the proper chemicals and foods no longer exist period?

cure the boy than you can ransack the vault most of the stuff won't be steal anymore and you can just take it. and there is a lot of stuff to take

and don't cheat :P

Has anyone tried getting severe radiation poisioning and seeing if that clears it? I saw one or two people mention that it works?
LordBlade Dec 5, 2015 @ 8:05pm
Yeah, it's basically a "shut up and do the quest like we tell you" situation. I'm quite sure a new cure could be put together, but then that would ruin the perfectly written quest Bethesda gave us. :p
I remember at the end of the quest not even knowing I had it.

I was thinking why I would keep the cure... couldn't be sold for much. Then hours later I look at my effects :kodp_skull:

No thx. That is cheating, plain and simple. Either keep the cure for yourself or help the boy and live with the consequences roleplaying wise.

Because, sometimes, you just wanna fly around with a jetpack-enfused suit of power armor and then land in a group of a 100 raiders you spawned below.

In short: Shenanigans. But yeah, if you're actually playing seriously? Pffft, just deal with it. Or not get hit by one of the rats to begin with.

Hmm. Now I'm wondering how you actually get that disease.
Going to try that quest with about 30 stealth boys and see if I can completely avoid getting hit.

Haha, this happened to me too! I only realized I had this disease after like.... 20 game hours? And then everything fell into place :trolol: well, I would still give the cure to that boy.

@Dance: When you try it, don't take a companion with you. Many people say this quest is bugged, so even if YOU don't get hit, your companion will give you the disease anyway.

There is actually a legitimate way to cure it AND give the cure to the boy, but it is a semi bug. (or is it a feature? with bethesda you never know) you just have to say no to the doctor at first, then walk so you just exit the dialogue, but it will keep the secondary options there if you go back it, and use the cure. Then just tell the doctor that you changed your mind and you will give the cure to the boy and voila you have cured yourself and the boy.

i never got the disease..honestly i didn't know you could lol

Honestly, the penalty for not helping the child is so mild that the choice itself is incredibly arbitrary. Either -10 health permanently (despite the robot who made the cure still being around and, arguably, knowing how to produce it) or you consign a child to death.

I don't usually cheat, but that quest was the one circumstance where I found the choice so incredibly pointless that I just spawned an extra cure.

In essence there really should have been no "choice". At best it would be give the current cure to the child and embark on a quest with Curie to find materials for a second dose or keep the cure for yourself because I guess you're just an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. That's really all it had to be, but it wasn't so screw it I cheated.

WTF. But then I sort of want Dogmeat to have a disease-causing bite.

It's entirely possible to make it through secret Vault 81 without contracting the molerat disease but (and I only read this from the wiki, not saw it firsthand) you can contract the disease from your companion getting hit. Proceeding carefully could allow you to receive the cure without contracting the disease, but it's a lot of effort to dodge a mild penalty.

You know, the funny thing is, that while I was fighting down there, somewhere in my brain I even thought "if the game was logical, I should have gotten the disease too, after they bit me." But for some reason I just assumed the game was illogical.
