Can this run Fallout 4?
I'm buying a gaming laptop this christmas and I was wondering if this is enough to run Fallout 4 with at least 30fps, and I'm fine with lowering the graphics a bit to gain those extra frames per second, any amount of help would be appreciated. <3

Windows 10 Pro 64
6th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ Quad Core Processor + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M 4GB Discrete Graphics(for 3D Camera)
16GB DDR3 - 2 DIMM
17.3-inch diagonal Full HD WLED-backlit IPS Display (1920x1080)
4TB 5400 rpm Dual Hard Drive

GPU is garbage. Hard drives are slower then a grandma with broken legs.

Also, "gaming laptop".

Yes, that should be able to run it.

Any other kind of laptop you can recommend me? I LOVE PC gaming, but I prefer a laptop. Cost doesn't matter just as long as it can run this game at around 30fps.

I would personally say that it will struggle. A 950 is entry level and not really meant for games as intensive as modern AAA games like Fallout 4 but if you are willing to sacrifice some fidelity and run lowest gfx settings then you may get it to run @30fps. Don't forget that a laptop GPU is much slower than a desktop GPU. Also a 950m is about 8 times slower than a 970.

If you do try it then consider the low texture pack mods on the nexus as streaming with that very slow HD will be painful. Also put your laptop in high performance mode in power saving options and prefer Max performance in nvidia control panel.

Theres also a lot of INI tweaks that could help if you are feeling adventurous.
Dude it can run it probably ultra, even so the main difference between ultra and low is shadows and anti alliasing, not much else, so guaranteed.

Thank the non-existing gods! I need a well detailed answer like this one, I'm okay with low graphic settings (as long as it doesn't look like I'm playing a game made of clay and Play-Doh) and if needed I'll tone the resolution down as well, I'm VERY thankful for your comment man, thanks a f*ck ton!

Check out the Asus ROG series (the prices might make your nose bleed though).

You're welcome. It will definitely work but I would definitely tweak your AA, Shadows and Godrays down to lowest and work up until you get acceptable performance. Don't forget its new and not the best optimised but that will improve hopefully with future patches.

This would run the game, but not in a way that you'd like. It's a bit underpowered for newer games.

My gaming notebook is a year old with an i7 4700HQ, GTX 860m (960m), 16GB DDR3, SSD, HDD etc, and it will run this game but really only at about 30-45fps. It's pretty frustrating, but it's like having a slightly more powerful and very mobile PS4 that you can use mods on so it's fine for the few times I'm away from my desktop (in profile).

Anyways, the GTX 950m is decent, but it's not great.

Runs at clean ultra consistant 60FPS.

Crashed for the first time yesterday after spawning 100 gatling laser BoS troops and one Shaun. Those lasers.... Oh then I nuked the BoS. With a x2 projectile nuke. Was playing around for the first time. Wanted to see how far I could push it before it froze/crashed.

Id say Laptops do a fine job.

With a GTX 950m the experience isn't going to be great. These 'can I run it' questions are difficult to answer. I wouldn't play Fallout 4 on a system with a GTX 950M, but the game will run.

A NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M is more suitable. Since you state that money isn't necessarily an object, a gaming laptop from MSI, Asus or Acer with GTX 970M would be an acceptable choice.

---

You probably have good reasons to go for a laptop, but the reality is that a fairly small Mini-ITX system is better suited to gaming than a clunky laptop. I bit the bullet and got a second gaming desktop for the office.

Ya I disagree. A gaming notebook has it's place, and they only get more powerful every year.

It comes with a built in monitor and keyboard (buy a mouse to use), and can play the newest games with the right specs anywhere there is a power outlet.
