Fusion core not exploding on legendary enemy

So i haven't shot fusion cores much because i wanted to collect them, but i'm rich now and i decided to explode legendary BOS enemies for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. Thing is, they're not exploding.
has anyone run into this?

ìf you're talking about the eject core perk, thats for your own. to shoot the fusion cores off of the enemies you don't need any perks

Oh ok, I've never seen them explode when shooting though? Usually is just makes them get out

Yeah they only have ever gotten out for me.

Who said they explode anyway? Maybe you do need the perk for them to explode at all?

i've shot them before, the core heats up to a glowing red and then a nuke explosion happens. IF they survive that they get out. When i did it i was at low levels, so they never survived

Maybe they are getting out to prevent it exploding. Try sneaking and using a high damage weapon maybe?

i tried it with a normal enemy and it works fine. Seems legendary enemies are inmune to the blowing up, or maybe it was a bug because the body didn't have a core.

The power armoured raider on the ship in the river seems hardcoded to not get out of his armor. I've one shotted the core many times through testing and he refuses to get out before it explodes. Makes me wonder whether only certain enemies will get out. Or its a random chance.

I've seen this happen with named & legendary NPC's before. But # 1001.
