T-60 power armor is major lore BS
You remember FO3, where the BoS only had T-45d power armor? And T-51b was a unique armor better than enclave armor? Well, that was lorewise BS.

Now, in FO4, Encalve PA (Advanced Power armor or X-01 Power armor, I'm glad they finally have a proper name for it) is actually the best, as it should be.
T-45 is outdated power armor and T-51 is not stupidly rare like in FO3.
But now we have another lore failure: The T-60 PA.
The game states that T-60 was the last PA before the bombs fell. Wasn't this T-51b in the previous games, in EVERY previous game? Nope, there was T-60, too, they say.
And I could be OK with that, as long as T-60 would be rare. But no, everyone is running around in T-60, the second best power armor in the whole game. The Atom Cats, which are basically just some sort of tuner gang, and the BoS from Washington DC.
Yep, the BoS from Washington DC. How exactly did they get the T-60?
In FO3 they only had T-45d! And this would have been another good way to implement the lore of T-60 power armor to the game. They could have said:
"T-60 is post-war modified T-45d power armor."
But no, they had to say, T-60 was around before the bombs fell and it somehow istn't even rare. Oh, and well done Bethesda for screwing up even your own lore by saying on one of the loading screens, that T-51 was the best power armor before the bombs fell.
Well done.

All these cries about 'lore' is such a bore.

tactics had way more plot holes and lore brakeing than 3 or 4

Most people never actually played the old games, they just like to say they did for internet cred or some nonsense like that.

I wonder how many even "know" there is a game called Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

It's just fashionable to spew vitriol at Bethesda.

It isn't allowed to speak about Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel,
it is intended to be hushed.

Seriously why are people allergic to searching for themselves? Do a simple forum search and you'll find a zillion other threads already discussiing this topic. Also a simple google search would have shown you that while Yes, the T-51b was the mainstay armor at the time, the T-60 was just being rolled out and was not yet in Widespread use by the time the bombs fell.

There isn't because it never happened.

Power armor lore upset.

More interesting (and less hypocrytical, Hi New Vegas 40mm grenades, etc etc) than complaining about .38 ammo.

Hi new vegas m16s and brotherhood of steel WEARING t-51 ON EVERY KNIGHT.

Its not new to fallout 4.

Its implied the brotherhood is making most of the t-60s, the first few suits were being rolled out before the bombs dropped for assault units, the t-51 was used way before the t-60, anchorage was not near the end of the world.

How about using google before ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on a forum. Same applies to that jet circle jerk and x-01 nazis.

The T-60 is there because Bethesda didn't like the T-51b being better than their weird Warhammer ripoff design.

That's all there is to it, just like all there is to Mothership Zeta is Bethesda not understanding that easter eggs were jokes.

Looking for depth where none exists is only going to waste your time.

Lets go further down the rabbit hole!
How many things were in fallout 2 to be edgy refrences to other games!

Your arguments are horrendus. T-45 was also bethesdas creation.

The only power armor designed in the old fallouts was enclave and t-51.

BoS having T-60 armor isn't all that surprising, it toke BoS two years to design and develop Prydwen, but they would also have been doing other things. It seems highly likely that BoS has access to the ability to actually build things so if they found the plans for building T-60 power armor, it's not past their resouces to do so.

It's pre-war so there is likely a few facilities around designed to build it considering it was meant to be the next line of power armor. The only sad thing about this game is Power Armor is too OPed, but oh well. Let's cap ballistic and energy defense and get a good 600 radiation defence and good explosive defence too, now untouchable.

That must be it lol

It couldnt be there to provide more variety.

BTW, were is the pre-bethesda 3d models to compare the T-51 to the T-60?

Why was The Burned Game spoken of? Have we readied the re-education chamber yet?

They found t-60 caches in the last 10 years. Not lore breaking since there's a time gap.

from what I was able to gather, through convos and terminals. overhearing things too. the T-60 was developed at the ass end of the war and was poised to replenish the more hardlined units in china, and to be used as an MP armor for post war occupation of china. but they started to replace the T-51 in DC, New York, Boston, and New Jersy national guard posts.

Think of Fallout as an ever evolving Lore Muncher, it'll plant new Lore in crevices if they explain it right. and remember they didn't have the internet in 2077, they barely had inter-connected offices. Phone and TV, as well as Display Units are all they had for the most part. so it can be explained away that most of the T-60 Replacements were just hot off the line and were kept hush hush so as to not antagonize the public who have seen enough war (the T-60 would be seen as a needless expense when we were winning with the T-51's).

and as someone already said, the Brotherhood had Access to a massive manufacturing setup, left behind by the Enclave, as the Enclave X-02 (the original Tactics Advanced Power Armor) and Hellfire were too expensive per unit to produce, and most likely the homeguard retained the repaired versions looted from the Crawler and raven rock. so they decided to manufacture the T-60 line since it was the best of both worlds.

keep in mind, I only gathered that from "I wish we could have brought some of the old Enclave Gear with us, but the Citadel needed it" from a scribe on travels. and "the Enclave put a lot into its power armor" from a two way convo discussing the manufacture of the prydwen. and based on the T-60 crafting composites, it's really the best option, power efficient (lore not tangent) lighter than the T-51, and more durable.

there was also a bit where they discuss the Brotherhood attempting to manufacture Fusion Cores, but they were missing key components, and the only place to find them were at Big Mountain and several Manufacturing plants three out of six of which were targeted by nuclear bombs, the other three were hidden. so we may see either a DLC or an Obsidian Game basing the story around this.

Much more goes into a high tech piece of equipment such as the aesthetic look of the plate. I would like to know solid lore on the T60, but here is the conclusion I have come to: the T51 power armor is still the best as it comes out of the factory, but the T60 is really just T45. In real life when the US army wants to update the potential of armored vehicles, lets say MBT's, they don't say "well now we need a new design from scratch", they upgrade it. The M1 abrams is a real life example, its iterations in the US military went from the M1 to M1IP to M1A1 to M1A1HA and HC to the M1A2 to M1A2 SEP V1-3 and TUSK I and II. Until solid lore comes out about the T60's production, this is what I'm going with; the T45, although very impressive, was at the height of the fighting in China found lacking in armor, the T51 added more electronics and features and was overall a better piece of gear but very expensive and couldn't equip all power armored infantry units with T51, whether production time or price or both were the factor, something needed to be done to improve the T45, so an upgrade kit was devised to add more and better armor and the servos to support the added weight. The upgraded T45's had so much more capability than the base model of T45, so they gave it a new designation, the T60. Because no T60 set is seen outwest, this would lore wise mean that power armor production or development or both took place largely on the east coast, because T60's can only be found on the east coast. This would explain why the T45 and T60 patterns look so similar, and their development and production could also be explained easily as CIT (MIT in the real world) is a major center for military development as well as a learning institution. In the future, I would like to see more patterns of power armor come out and not be explained away as "oh nonono, THIS was the pinnacle of American power armor, not the T51!", but to use explanations like "these pattern were from Germany and France and Belgium and England for American Trials." or "Although the T51 was the pinnacle of power armor design, private companies got the idea to develop power armor for the 'security force' of their company so that's why they exist."
