Creating a second character for dummies
As the title says, I'd like to create a second character, but I have read from quite a few people who weren't able to load their first save anymore after that. So I'd like to know if there are any things I need to consider in order to NOT damage my first save.

Back up your saves? turn off steam cloud then try it?

The game creates seperate save file directories for different characters. So when you start a new character only those saves are visible when you press " load" in the main menue. I guess some people thought that their other save games disappeared but you can change the character you want to play in the "Load" screen, then you see all your previous save games.
So in short, no there is no problem with creating multiple characters.

People are getting confused about their save files because Fallout 4 shows you your saves on a per-character basis.

When you are loading saves in the menu, press T to select the character you want to load save files for.

Your saves are not being deleted or otherwise moved when you start a new game.

There's no damage to your first save. What it is, is that the game now separates saves by character. Which is awesome. Go into the load menu and push t (I think) and it will pull up your characters.

Got it now, thanks guys! I just decided to ask here, because, you know, better save than sorry.
That new option really comes in handy, for sure.

Okay. the save system is like Mass Effects. You have seperate saves for your characters. when wanting to load a diffrent character go to load and press T from there you can choose who you want to load.

I got a tiny solid state C drive so even though I got the game itself intalled on D, I gottt periodically trim my saves due to auto save bloat and only being able to see like, 3 saves at a time in the game menu making overwriting old saves a dozen mouse wheel spins.

It'd be less of an issue if the save/load menu in game wasn't so tiny. and I can admit my situation is an outiler, not the standard.
