markfordelete COMPANIONS
This is stupid. Like literally.

Let me put this out here.

I needed some things to be removed and as usual Paladin decided to keep running and I Markfordelete items and I am guessing he is gone.

I have his quest Lost Petrol and when I mark it, it mark it to the location and he is invisible.

Cait's gone too. Idk how, where, why. I cant find that ***!

Any solutions? I dont feel like doing this ♥♥♥♥ all over again.

moveto player ( put npc base id here )

Never use console commands unless you know beforehand how to undo them. Don't paint yourself into a corner unless you can tcl out.

moveto player won't work if he's been disabled. You'll need to re-enable him first.
Go the wiki page, get his refid
open the console and type
prid "refid"
then type
enable
He should reappear in the game, then use
moveto player

Yeah, you're right. But I also think mark for delete is gone as in forever.

markfordelete removes the reference of the character. In the console, you can use "help <companion> 0" to find the base of the companion you are looking to replace. From there, "player.placeatme <id>". That will spawn a new instance of the base id you used. I have no idea if that will let things continue on as normal though. When I tried it with Codsworth, it broke the starting quest he initiates. There were two Codsworth base IDs though, so perhaps I used the wrong one.

If you've simply misplaced someone, use the moveto command like lateraliss mentioned. That will move them to your location.

Really, you're probably better off reloading.

What if u use the correct one? I really need Paladin and Cait back and dont feel like doing the whole game again for just the 2 characters.

yeah, I know the feels. I was trying to markfordelete a random zombie for base building, and I accidentally selected Piper!...fortunately I only lost 10 minutes of game play by going back one save. However, I did try all the above suggestions, and none worked. Looks like once something has been set markfordelete, the game erases their refid entirely from that save.

Note that I tried enable, but I don't think enable works on an object/npc that has been set to markfordelete. When I use the prid 00002f1f it shows piper as having [d] in the name..assuming that means deleted. Nevertheless, enable defs didn't work.

Will make sure I have the correct item selected before using markfordelete in the future.
