How to get head protection without hiding hair?

Hey guys so i'm playing as a girl right now in Fo4, and every hat or helmet etc either hides the face completely or if it doesnt, it makes my character bald. Any workaround?

i have long hair on my char and im using the metal helmet atm it stilll sticks out underneath the helmet
the one that reaches to the shoulders
male char btw

use a fedora type and craft ballistic weave V on it for 110 defense.

There is a blue vault-tec cap without a top. Doesn't hide anything.

Isn't there a plastic visor cap in game? try that one

search for a visor, and then you know the rest

There's also a mod on the nexus to hide the helmet but still retain the benefits if you're so inclined.

If thats the armorsmith extended mod, I have that but haven't figured out how to enable it.

Ballistic Weave the Hairs at the Hairstylist ... no not really ... but would be cool... ;)

You have a mod... but you haven't enabled it? Get NMM from the Nexus and save yourself some pain.
