Pumping Water???
Built my first water pump and started pumping. After 5 minutes I was still pumping. How long do you have to pump to get any water?

lol what? What kind of water pump? You mean the basic one?

You go over to the pump and pump it to fill health, besides that by building one you increase your settlements clean water resource
Yeah, there's no reason to pump it. XD

Can you pump water into a container you can take with you (for later)?

I'll expect the eat, drink, sleep mod to take care of that when the proper tools are avaliable.

I was actually coming here to post a similar topic. In the beta you could use the water pump to replenish your thirst, but it seems they got rid of that. I assume that's what the OP means.

Yes you can - pretty much any empty bottle.

I might have had a similar condition, but seemed to fix it.

Playing Survival mode, 1.5...update. The (hand) water pump I use in Sanctuary stopped quenching my thirst! (removing the Parched status). I was about 3 hours into the game and had used this water pump directly to remove Parched status after waking up. But it stopped working. Once I let the animation go for about 5 minutes without removing the Parched effect, which sounds similar to the OP.

I could still fill water bottles from that pump, and the water bottles would quench my thirst. I could also quench my thirst from a second water pump in Sanctuary at a different house.

SOLVED?
I ended up slighly moving the original pump and that pump recovered the ability to remove my Parched status from its new location.

If this is intentional it sort of makes sense; "The well ran dry." From a game play aspect it's more of a minor irritant since I barely moved the pump to restore quenching water.

Wimpy, I had the same problem. I think its a bug. I couldn't figure out what was going on, then I went and drank in the river and it quencehd my thirst.
