We did so, and gave the egg back to moma
generally brighter colored animals are males (think of robins who are red if male and brown if female) and the more nature /camoed is the female

(I think the file names are a given to which pic is which)
(also worth note that no other Deathclaw variant have the markings in the same way, implying further that the Savage Deathclaw is a particularly fierce Deathclaw Matriarch)
why is it curie hates it when you returns the egg?
Or maybe she is just really curious to what a Deathclaw egg tastes like, I dunno.
Because the Deathclaw in the egg is going to grow up to kill people with 100% certainty and Curie wants to help people.
Although I bet that Deathclaw babies are the cutest thing ever :)
I was actually pretty dissapointed when it turned out to be a Deathclaw. I was hoping it would be an actual ghost or a woman with psychic powers. Maybe because I still remember that Vampire: The Masquerade mission that takes place inside an actual haunted hotel.

But then again death claws in general are pretty underpowered. On regular difficulty you can kill them without them laying a hit with the Pickman's Blade and VATS.
You could say the difficulty makes it that way but other than stat boosts any difficulty this can be done on. All you need is more chems like jet, and AP boosting and increasing chems. AI are not any more dangerous other than the stat boost.
