Mod for faster loading screens?
Hi,

TL;DR: Is there a mod to unlock the frame rate ONLY during loading screens?

Here's my train of thoughts. I tried unlocking the frame rate (which can be done through the .ini files) which made the game run at over 100fps. At first I though this was good, but I slowly realized that the game was actually running FASTER (like when you tried to run an old DOS game on your brand new Pentium 1 processor). Some of it was cool (running faster) but when I'd get in the lockpicking mini-game, my frame rate would shoot to 600+ which made the game run 10 times faster and the mini-game became impossible. The thing is, the loading screens were also MUCH faster (I'd say around 4x faster on my CPU). I had to lock the fps at 60 again because of the issues, but I'd very much like to keep those faster loading screens if possible! :) Anyone has any idea if this is possible / if anyone tried?

PS: I tried searching/posting on NexusMods, but seems you have to pay...

PS2: My rig is a Skylake i5-6600K, EVGA GTX 970 FTW and the game is installed on my Samsung 840 EVO (750gb)

PS3: If anyone has an account on NexusMods and want to forward this, please do! And give me a link to the thread so I can follow.

Thanks

Nexusmod is free, at the bottom of the screen were they try and get you to buy a membership. Just go ahead and click Create Account, that how you get the non paying free membership account. To answer your other question, There is a mod that will disable the intro screens. Cant rember what it called, just go create your free Nexus account and do a search. Dont forget to get thier installer, It works great for auto installing mod from them.

Ah thanks a lot Tex_Recoil. I was indeed able to create a free account. I posted the same question there if anyone is interested:

Unlocking the framerate will not cause the game to load faster.
did you update you 840 evo firmware? I run off SSD's and my loading time is fine. Secondly, loading time is not tied to frame rate. frame rate is tied to some of the games physics, and thats why you saw the game get sped up.
HDD up to 40 sec
SSD 8 sec maximum
Have you guys tried running the game at 100+ fps (not locked by Fallout AND not locked by v-sync)? It DOES load faster. It's probably the only modern game that does that, which just shows how obsolete the game engine is...

You'd be surprised. There's a lot of reports of people getting significantly faster loading screens by unlocking the FPS.

The game's speed is actually tied to the frame rate somehow. That's why sometimes, if you unlock the framerates, the lockpicking animation can be so fast that it actually makes lockpicking harder.

I don't know exactly how it works (I'm not a super techy guy) but if that's the case, seems to me like faster loading times wouldn't be entirely out of the question.

(Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about and am a complete idiot :P)

Then, unless it causes another problem, a mod that unlocks FPS for loading screen phase and caps max fps in gameplay would be useful.

I'm not sure if you ever found what you were looking for, but it seems someone did make a mod doing exactly what you were asking for: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10283/?

I just tried it and it works great
All I got to say is you read my mind. The loading screens are just bad... Especially the never ending kind. OMG. It happens at random but I get these never ending load screens that make you want to smash your computer to bits... But hey Bethesda games are always and have always been plagued with bugs... It's what makes Bethesda Bethesda. But that is hands down the most annoying bug on the planet. Hands Down!!!!:AngrySword::AngrySword::AngrySword:
There is a INI edit that some mods instruct you to do that actually increases loading times. Its the SResource=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

Just edit it so its sResourceDataDirsFinal= and that should fix it.
After running the Load Accelerator mod from Nexus my load times are half as long if not shorter. I was about ready to move onto another game due to the crazy long load times, but now they aren't bad at all. This is something that Bethesda should have included in the game from the get go.

I was incredibly skeptical when you posted that mod, I never had a complaint about this games loading time on my SSD. But, I decided to give that mod a try just to see if it worked.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it actually works and it's not a placebo effect.
Glad I could help!

I finally got fed up with the loading times after they would routinely last 30 seconds or longer even though i'm using an SSD. I tried all the tweaks I could find and eventually stumbled upon this mod on Nexus. In my opinion, it should be endorsed much more than it currently is. It has made my experience 100x better.
