Any way to permanently save/copy a save file?

Hi folks!

Recently got frustrated with my run through, and decided to start over. Just got to a point where I've left the vault, and scapped/cleared out everything from Sanctuary, and haven't done anything else yet - I'm even still level 1.

All the prep work (the pre-vault quests, leaving the vault, cleaning up Sanctuary, etc) took like an hour and a half, and before I go too far I'd like to have a way to preserve the save at the point I'm at, so if I want to start over again someday, I can revert to this point - all the little prep work done, but the world a blank slate in front of me.

Anyone know how I can save and/or copy this save file, so I could return to it later if I chose?

Just simply do a hard save, then continue your journey. When you want to start again, load the save.

You can also go into your game files and make a copy of the save file. It's what I do when I go back and forth on different machines.

Few Suggestions:

1) Upload the save files In your documents folder, to a heavily compressed winrar archive, and onto a thumb drive.

2) Enable Steam Cloud, and It'll upload your save files automatically, so you may have them on any computer, or If you lose your save files then It'll get you another copy.

Another idea could be to change your character's name slightly by opening the character editor via console commands; e.g. Joe1, and then make a hard save. That way you can easily switch to what is essentially the same character, rename him, and NOT have to scroll through countless save files. I know it'd take me forever to get thruogh all the saves I make.

Just . . . copy and paste from the save directory to somewhere else - like any other file. Drop it back in when you want to use it again.
