Bucket of Blood - Originally 7 choices for the wall?
The game contains an item "Bucket of Blood". It looks like red paint. It is found in an area being used as red paint. It breaks down into Steel and Oil, just like yellow and blue paint.

Theory: It was originally "Red Paint".

The design was that you could use the paint mixer to make not just green, but orange, purple, and possibly even brown as well. But at some point, Bethesda decided it was too much of a hassle to allow so many choices - maybe the limited dialog options prevented it. So they just swapped the name of the item, and turned off its ability to mix or be used as paint. So, for the quest, you're only allowed very limited choices.

Now, this is hardly some kind of ground breaking theory, and I'm sure several others noticed it as well. And it's just one example of placeholder, altered, or cut content that the game likely contains. Which, we've seen that happen plenty of times in Bethesda games, half-finished remnants of quests that are just left in, even when the quest is gone.

Just imagine if Bethesda actually took the time to FINISH a game for once, instead of half-assing it and releasing a broken, buggy product.

Or maybe it was just a bucket of blood.

Also realistically if they took that long to iron out all the bugs/what not, it would end up with outdated graphics and likely gameplay mechanics due to how long it would take.

And yet other companies manage to release games without debilitating bugs ALL THE TIME. Not every company, because there are those that love to rush out unfinished worked (looking at you, Ubisoft, EA), but some companies.

So no, I don't buy the "it takes too long to do something right" argument. Clearly it doesn't, if you're competent.

True, but do those games run on a extremely old engine that just keeps getting reworked a little more everytime to do more stuff even though everyone knows it has bugs that have never been fixed?

"They can't fix it because they built bad code on top of bad code" isn't help their case either...
