Always a quick reply from someone who thinks being nasty is cool or clever. *Sigh*
No, my post was for anyone who feels something is missing in the searching, finding of loot. Just killing time in the forums. Not every post needs to be profound.
Additionally with no repairs there is nothing you are chomping at the bits to get a hold of like when you needed more parts to repair your gun, bows it just, ok cool, salvage or throw it in the bank.
None of the loot seems valuable anymore, everything is very..meh feeling. Mostly because so much of the loot is available else where. Even powerful weapons like the plasma rifle are a dime a dozen now.
At least that's my take on why I don't feel that awesome pop when I find stuff.
Oh also because you can find anything anywhere, opening master safe produces the same crap as a novice safe. Like going south into higher level areas don't produce anything rare or worth going there for, I can get all I need from easy to farm locations.
Yeah, that may be an issue with me. No mystery?
I think maybe there is a complex psychology to game design. You know, systems and mechanics that can keep the ADD/OCD modern gamer playing.
No repairs! I'd missed that aspect. You are right. There may be something there that I miss. Maybe gave me more motivation to pick through everything to keep my gun repaired.
The cigarettes and pre-war money are still worth a good amount of caps; so don't accidently dump those things at your workshop.
But, it does feel a bit emptier. I guess because the good weapons and guns are now random drops by Legendary enemies or easily bought at the shops. It lacks that sense of, "Holy crap, look at this fricking gun!," when you stumble across a unique weapon in the bottom of some cave or Vault ruin.
Yeah, it's making exploration less fun, which used to be my primary enjoyment. Half the uniques, if not more, are in stores, legendaires pop up repeatedly in the same locations and have become more a source for camping and grinding till you get something good. Now there are very few cool things to find by trekking to remote locations etc etc Odds are I'll just find another wrench, a few buckets and some wonderglue.
There are plenty of special and rare weapons out there that cannot be crafted but still be modded, often the game will let you know when you find one(kill legendary's).
Especially on named bosses, which are supposed to be somehow seperate and special compared to others. If some raider boss has been singled out, to have a name, among a horde of nameless, then there should be some reason to seek them out and defeat them, (or pickpocket them). At the very least, they should have top tier gear, or something... anything.
Use power armor and build settlements, then you'll have reason to loot. I personally find the looting more engaging this time around, as the junk actually has some purpose. I often find myself running short of steel, aluminum, circuits, oil, and fiber optics. Having to scavenge for those parts makes the scavenging actually feel like scavenging for the first time in the series.
Good riddance to the gun repair, at least the way it was implemented before. Using entire guns to repair a weapon after light use always felt stupid to me.
They probably should have added rare drops exclusive to the expert/master locked containers to make looting more interesting to people that don't build settlements/upgrade armor extensively, though.
