founda funny bug with a legendary laser musket!
well i found a legendary laser musket with the "never ending" effect (ammo cap same as ammo held so holds the same amount of ammo you have for it) and i cranked it to like 150 for lolz and took a shot.....i have no cells anymore XD as the whole mag drains when fireder the game was like OK YOU USED UP ALL THE AMMO!

yeah i thought the musket generated it's own ammo from cranking. i modded one to a 6 crank and tore through my cells not knowing what i was doing. now it just sits at home

yeah it uses your ammo witch is kind of stupid it SHOULD genrate its own ammo but bethesda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up because 1. it uses ammo because they though it would be to OP with free shots 2. in place of charging and fireing off shots one at a time you just shoot mega shots and 3. it only uses 6 ammo to deal a ♥♥♥♥ ton of damage off of one shot it should use more like 10 ammo per shot in that case witch would also be fine cells are just EVERWERE before level 20 you should have 600+ cells just from gunners

The true question is that, does the damage add up if you load 20 charges in it ? Or it just max at the number of crank your guns at?

idk the only way to tell is to spawn like a deathclaw and shoot it with 6 shots then charge up a ♥♥♥♥ ton more and shoot it with that

The Laser Musket makes no sense if it takes ammo. Like, I don't get the point of it. Why would you ruin a laser rifle like that? It provides no benefit.

But yeah, with infinite capacity, you can just keep cranking it and one-shot any and everything in the game. Another example of the amount of work put into balancing guns.

laser muskets do more dmg per shot the laser rifles they probably balanced it by giving it ammo constraints.

i could actually see the laser muskets work a bit like recharger rifles from NV
no ammo but you crank it to recharge and it has less damage per shot
so those highend or 5 crank versions overpower a laser rifle but it takes a long time to ''charge'' them for that making them cumbersome for use in combat

well it ruins the concept of it, a laser rifle you can fire with out microfusion cells, in most game energy weapons are far adn few inbetween with the ammo somewhat rare (untill later parts or untill you find a good vendor) so making a rifle that you can hand crank to generate the needed electricity to fire the weapon was a awesome idea, you would crank it like 20 times, get 20 useable shots then crank it again this version is more like a charge weapon were you put in the cells and crank it to draw out the elecrity from the cells and fire them all in one shot

yeah the musket should have done less damage than normal laser weapons as well as your using hand cranked electricity as a power source as were laser rifles use microfusion cells

the whole idea behind the crank is to overcharge the weapon with a 6 crank weapon you can almost kill anything with 1 shot yes it goes through ammo very quickly but you dont have to charge it all the way up only if you wish for more damage good for going large amounts of damage before a figh starts then swapping to another weapon i use a 6 charge for killing deathclaws and bosses mostly anything else and its a waste

have you played the game? ammo for it is EVEYWERE, gunnys carry cells, synths carry cells, BoS carry cells, every shop sells them pretty cheep, just doing that first BoS quest with danse i got like 500 cells and thats with out the perk to pick up more ammo so 6 ammo per shot is not a problem, the rare ammo types in this is the 5.56 and 5mm because NPC rarely use miniguns or assult rifles the ammo is hard to find (doesnt matter too much anyways the assult rifle is really bad as while has a higher fire rate the combat rifles damage over it makes it usless as well as the mini gun, its cool but if your going heavy guns gatling laser all the way, 500 shots per core and if you want to conserve ammo you set the charging barrels witch deal a ♥♥♥♥ ton more damage but shoots alot slower)

i never said anything about ammo mearly stating that its pointless to overcharge to kill trash with laser muskets waste of time and yes to a degree ammo (ammo that can be sold for crap ton of caps to buy more pre war money to fill bathtubs with)

point being before you make assumptions actually read posts (currently have 115 hours played)

ok why would you sell cells? laser rifles easly outclass pretty much every gun in the game minus plasma and gauss (save the combat rifle in .308 unless your using the sniper barrel on the laser) all you need to get though the game is a good laser weapon, a a plasma sniper (or plasma if your full auto flame thrower) and a gauss becasue it pretty much one shots everything on a full charge

because when you end up having 6000 cells it gets a bit stupid to carry that many around (and im going for a realism run max 100 rounds per type) no point in just letting them sit in some workshop forever not being used
