How to turn off shadows completly

ive grown tired of the FPS drops and the shadows in this game cause alot of frame lag, i cant figure out how to disable them completly, i disabled them mostly but now i still see shadows near my player, how do i disable everything

Hah, you don't. The setting is hardcoded. What you have is as good as it gets.

[Incunabulum]

Go into falloutPrefs.ini - set

fDirShadowDistance=
fShadowDistance=

To something low - 3000 is the in-game minimum. Try 1000 and see how that goes. Adjust until it works for you.

Another option is to reduce shadow quality

iShadowMapResolution=

4096 is High - try 1028, 512, 256, or 128

Set godrays to the lowest setting.


But you can't turn shadows completely off.

One last thing - the shadows appearing near you may be Ambient Occlusion, Turn that off in the launcher.

Before you try it, know that setting shadow distance to 0/1/100 any really low number will result in the same behavior you're experiencing.

oh well its not that big a deal the game runs fine its just when looking towards city drops a few frames, the game is terribly optimized ill have to just wait for mods

I have had it show the wrong date on posts sometimes I would reply to a thread it said was an hour old only to have the page refresh and show it was x years plus an hour old instead.

Also if someone replies it moves it back to the first page.

lol i never did figure out how to turn off shadows totally but i eventually got a better pc and played for 2200 hours lol
