HalluciGen Voice Actor?
In the HalluciGen building, there's an announcer saying "A chemical leak has been detected, please evacuate the building" on a repeating loop. It sounds a heck of a lot like Brent Spiner to me, but nothing shows in the IMDb for Fallout 4 or Brent Spiner. Does anyone recognize the voice, or is it listed somewhere on IMDb I missed? Thanks!

Cool...I'm super glad it's not just me, too!

Would'nt be the first time they have worked with a cast member from Star Trek.
They used Michael Dorn to voice Frank Horrigan in Fallout 2

I do wonder, with voiceprint technology being fairly common, if someone can just compare the voiceprint with the in-game announcer, and some lines from ST:tNG? :) Or...we could just ask him. *Laughs*

I posted a question to him on Twitter. Here's hoping he'll respond!

Hopefully he's not under any NDA resrictions ;-)

Oh, I was very kind and, because it was Twitter, concise. I'm sure at some point I'll figure a way to compare the two using software or whatever. But sometimes asking "just works." :)

They wouldn't risk being sued over sampling his lines/words from the show. Spiner is awesome and admired as a person, and would probably be happy to do the work; no reason to steal it. As mentioned, Fallout 4 has a lot of big names, no reason they couldn't afford him as a voice actor. Just wish we could get Brent (can we call him Brent? Mr. Spiner sounds so formal!) to weigh-in on it. I mean, he would totally know if he went into a recording studio and did that line, right?

Then why does he not contribute to Star Trek Online?!

doubtful. paramount really watches out for copyright infringement.

Yeah, I mean the main thing to remember is that Brent Spiner probably doesn't own much/any of the rights to Star Trek. I'm sure he gets royalties, but that's about it? My guess is they're allowed to use the costumes (if he uses them at all for Cosplay or events), out of Fair Use, but not much more than that. I doubt he could infringe on Star Trek and not get easily caught by Paramount. But Brent Spiner, the human being, has every right to use his own likeness and voice however he sees fit outside of that infringing. Fallout 4 voice acting shouldn't be a problem at all!

He's a nice guy, but I'll bet sometimes it gets super annoying being known (only?) as Data. "DATA!" Can you imagine? I mean, all the other things you try to do and that's all anyone ever remembers? Think back to Nimoy and his two books: I Am Not Spock and I Am Spock. I'm sure playing an ultra-popular character has its benefits and its drawbacks. Typecasting, money, fans calling you by your character's name, fans assuming you are your character, money, fame and money. ;)

Also, who wants to interact every...single...day with thousands of fans who probably only want to nitpick the writers, producers, actors, etc. of a show that went off the air over twenty years ago? "What was it like on-stage?" "Was Riker really as hot as he looked on the screen?" "Is Sirtis single?" You can also listen to/read Wil Wheaton's books and podcasts about the ups and downs of being known - and hated by some - for something you did when you were a kid.

Yeah hafta add in my nod to a Brent Spiner voice work as the Halucigen announcer. As soon as I heard that voice I immediately thought of Brent.

If it isn't Brent then kudos for whomever pulled that one off as it sounds exactly like him.

Amusingly enough, an entire town got away with infringing ST copyright for years - and then they were officially allowed to continue on. :) I suppose it would have been bad press to pick on the place, and it only got attention called to itself when Nimoy decided to make a side-visit there a few years ago.

They were going to let the town have a preview of that first ST reboot movie ... but it doesn't have a theatre, and they didn't think it appropriate to show it on a bedsheet in the community centre.

Sampling lines from Star Trek would be a copyright infringement, but asking Brent to do the work would not. :) So...I'm curious if we ever figure this out?
