In FO 4 Danse says a couple of things that allude you to the ideology of the BOS. One place he says something like......This place is a testimony to the greed of the past...companies like this ushered in nuclear oblivion.
They are a bit draconian but that is to be expected when you think you are a holy quest to preserve humanity.
People like to talk up the old BoS, but within the confined of Fallout 1 they don't cause locals any problems and don't go on ghoul shooting sprees regardless of what lore bibles or thread post say.
However compared to Fallout 3's BoS, even "Rude and isolationist, but otherwise harmless if you don't shoot them first" Fallout 1 style Brotherhood looks 90s Xtreeme grim gritty edgy as hell. Which is the part most of the people posting about "But this is the REAL CLASSIC brotherhood man!" are clinging to.
EDIT: But nobody wants to admit it. Just like they don't want to talk about the ball gags and gay super mutant sex when saying "Fallout 2 was better than Fallout 4!"
I love those first games, and they are still a great time even today. But, well, not as perfect as we'd like.
*facepalm* indeed. You clearly have no idea about the BoS
Fallout 3 and 4 are set...what, about 120 years after Fallout 1? Ideologies and Agendas change over time, especially with each new Elder. Sure its Bethesdas lore now, but still. Also back in Fallout 1 the Brotherhood was fairly limited in manpower. They only started to rise in power after Fallout 1. Even more after Fallout 2 when the got they got their hands on Vertibird plans.
Depends if you count their destruction at the end of F3 and Broken Steel as "one".
Oh yes. I don't have an issue with changing Ideloeges. I'm just having an "I've been up 20 hours" ramble about the people who act like Fo4 Brotherhood is a return to form. When, you know, classic Fallout 1/2 BoS are still clear cut goody good without going "But the lore bible says they totallly do mean things too!"
Honestly, my only issue with Fo4 BoS is quite petty. The fact They want to kill the Railroad is 130% transparently just there because "Faction exclusive point of no return checkbox".
Right. Sure. These guys who I've seen more of dead already when I show up somewhere than I've seen live ones. Who can barely survive generic raiders without help. Are a potential threat to your plans and need to be dealt wipppft I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I belive you about the big scary-aahahahahahaha.
Fallout4'll be last time i support Brotherhood of steel. ...no more agian
I'm miss Sarah lyons , miss lyons pride.
