HELP PLZ: If you've completed Human Error in Covenant!
*CONTAINS SPOILS RELATED TO THE QUEST!*

To all you lovely people who have completed the quest, I literally can't decide to either kill the compound people, or kill Amelia. From a roleplay point of view, I would kill the doctor and the people in the compound, because I don't agree with the way that they get their data, torturing and killing innocent people, because their SAFE test is ass.

I was gonna rush to Old Man Stockton to talk to him after i saved the girl, but I don't just wanna rush past all the great exploring..

I just want to know. Does your choice here (save or kill the girl) have some kind of consequence later on in the game, anything at all? Thank you :happymeat:

What I'm curious about is:

What is the joke about baseball and prefering the catcher position? On one level, it seems like the compound/Covenant are just making fun of the catcher position... but on another level, why would synths or humans respond in an oddball way about that question? At one point, something is said about the institute not playing baseball... which seems to be a joke against nerds, in a way: CIT is clearly Mass. Institute of Tech, a school that perhaps Bethesda thinks folks find a tad nerdy... so, is the joke about synths not knowing baseball all that well meant as a sort of dig at MIT for being nerds and not jocks, and thus programming their synths with faulty baseball knowledge?

I'm just trying to understand why baseball questions are supposedly so odd for synths.

Bear in mind, I beat the BoS final mission, so my experience with the compound/covenant is limited to just going through and finding bits of lore/holotapes... can't do some, if any, of the quests there, evidently, but have stumbled across the location and the accompanying lore.

Don't forget!

1.Disable all their bodies
2. Don't destroy the turrets! You 'll have parts all over forever. Just disable them too and then place yours.
3. Setownership for beds etc

The whole test is a refference to the Voight-Kampff test in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? / Blade Runner, as well as to Fallout 3's G.O.A.T. test (of which it basically uses the questions).

Of course the Covenant people lack an equivalent of the Voight-Kampff machine, which was the important part of the test, allowing to measure physiological responses to the questions that could uncover a replicant / synth.

They might have also got a copy of a G.O.A.T. test from some vault dweller and used it as a base for the S.A.F.E. test, hence the baseball questions, which are probably mostly irrelevant.

Hence the horrible rate of false positives (and the possibility that some synths might be in fact slipping through without their knowledge).

All the discussions about the baseball question seem to imply that some of the compound "scientists" might be trying to see patterns in random data... or maybe there's actually something in the standard synth memories or wiring that tends to produce some specific answers for that question more often than others (although that could possibly not work in synths with non-default memories).

Personally, particularly given the high amount of false positives, I think they're only catching synths by random chance.
