Lots of steel?
Hi,

Are there any settlements I can discover with work benches that have plenty of cars or steel items near by available to scrap?

I've exhausted Sanctury and most near by that. But rather than collect small steel items for scrap, I'm looking for a big haul somewhere so I can improve my defenses.

Thank you.

The Star-light Drive has a parking lot and a some cars, along with nuclear waste which can be scrapped.

You can get steel everywhere. Lots of cars around settlements, lots of junk around the world. I have around 3000 steel and 2000 wood in my global network, just from scraping and looting.

aluminum is a rare thing.

preety much. it just takes time. Keep an eye out for it on missons and learn to balance what you take. Caps are easy to make so if you are picking things up to sell instead of picking up cans then it will be harder to get steel. There is a perk to get steel out of weapons but IMO its not worth it for what you get vs weight. There really isnt any rare thigns out there to use though. it can all be found easy enough.

also set up stores - you can purchase junk from them that converts to steel.

They really should allow you to scrap the vehicles you find lying around outside of the settlement areas.

Scrap every pipe gin you can. It's only 4 steel at a minimum, but if you scrap all your pipe weapons you'll end up with the couple thousand that I've got.

NOTE: It's heavy, but if you have the extra space when you're done cleaning an area out you might as well bring a couple of pipe guns back.

Go empty out the corvega car factory - it's one of the first mission objectives and there are oodles of items to scrap for steel.

Especially look out for: Fire extinguishers and ANYTHING on the rolling bands.

You should get quite a few steel items. Also deceptively worthwhile: cans. 0.1 weight and 1 or two steel, as opposed to 1 weight for 1 steel for most tools, or worse.

Wood should come from clipboards, which you find in pretty much any office, or mops.
