Nick Valentine Affinity issue?
Okay, so I got the dialog from Nick where he says he keeps geting the old Nick Valentinie's memories and stuff. I heard that sometime afterwards he's suppose to give you a quest. However, that quest isn't triggering. Also, whenever I talk to Nick about our relationship he says something like "Hard to say, some folks are looking out for others while others look out for themself, dunno which one you are etc." I used the console command to check his affinity value and it's at 1753.

oh thank goodness im not the only one having this issue. it's bugging the ♥♥♥♥ out of me. i even downloaded a mod that makes any companion (no matter what you do) love you, and it worked for everyone i tried it on so far except him.

phew, glad I wasn't the only one with this issue. it's such a shame since nick is one of my favorite companions in the game. i think the issue is that i already picked up a holotape involved with his personal quest a long time ago so that it doesn't trigger. hopefully in the future there will be a fix for this, or maybe bethesda will put in a console command to reset companion affinity.

I've picked up some tapes and still triggered the quest.

fixed it, had to activate the quest using a console command. after the quest finished, it said he idolized me and i got his perk :D

What was the console command please? Im completely ignorant in the use of the console so please bear that in mind with your explanation.

Also, whats the command to check affinity value?

Much appreciated.

To use the console use the tilde key on the keyboard (~)
To activate Nick's quest, I input this into the console: setstage 000229fe 0
To check affinity value, bring up the console, click on the companion who's affinity you want to check, and then input: getav CA_affinity

Hope I could help!

Will using it block achievements?

Using console commands will not block achievements. It's the same system as it was in Skyrim.

The quest only triggers after Dangerous Minds. If you haven't pass that mission, you started the quest prematurely.
Same with Curie.

I finished Dangerous Minds a long time ago (at Bunker Hill Mission) and completed all of Nick's Dectective cases. I think it's a bug. Curie, Macready, and Cait's quests all triggered normally for me. It's fine now though, using the console command fixed the issue.

Thank you

I had no problems with Nick giving me the quest, so ... well.... good luck. Nick is one of the best in the game, that's for sure.
