How do I get Heavy Leather Armor?
Here is my situation. I have started a new playthrough to try out a different playstyle. Thus I am low level and need gear. I have found that I really like the heavy leather armor, but I have only found one piece.

Through my efforts searching, I have noticed that there seems to be no area where people tend to use that, like with the combat atmot in Gunner's Plaza, and the console just wants to act like non of the sturdy/heavy variants for ant armor even exist, so I am asking this.

Does anyone know any way to get a full set of heavy leather armor. The helmet is not needed.

You can make it yourself. All you need is a piece of Leather Armor and an Armor Workbench.

How exactly do I upgrade pieces to their higher variants? Its not like its a thing you can do with armor modding.

It is random, keep an eye on every raider you kill and every shop you visit, there is no guaranteed.

You can't upgrade armor to Sturdy and Heavy variants, they are a different item entirely.

Really? How come I haven't stumbled over heavy leather armor yet? Must be a mistranslation (german) or something.

It seems that the variants are rarer than the next tier up in armor types.

Same here, only leather, raider, metall, combat. That are all basic types of armor i encountered..within 100+ hours of playing. Dont tell i just have bad luck :P

Heavy Leather seems to be the single rarest variant of armor in the Commonwealth, since even at level 67 I think I've only ever found like a set and a half of it (which is fine by me since I think it looks horrible, but hey).

Yeah. Its so rare the help command can't find the IDs for its pieces . . .
Simpson3k Nov 27, 2015 @ 7:44pm
Well thats cool, who knows perhaps there are even more rare items, stuff nobody even reported about :)

Sturdy and Heavy variants have the same ID as the regular variant, to get it you need to hit in "additem <base ID of armor> <amount> <value>" where the value is any number starting with 1, just keep increasing the value until you get the armor you want, then get rid of the others.

That's because they are usually better than the next tier up, base Combat Armor gives 15 physical and 15 energy armor, while Sturdy Leather Armor gives 14 physical and 23 energy armor, making it almost a straight upgrade.

Higher tier (Sturdy & Heavy) items are rarer, and if they have misc mods attached, they lose their prefix for the modded prefix.

So all you can do is keep an eye out for abnormally high defense values on leather.

Also, if you build a 2nd tier armor shop, they can carry sturdy and heavy variants of armor at times, which is where I got mine.

So does anyone know how to get it with commands?

I explained it, read the last post, there is no set value for the Sturdy and Heavy variants, the way to get them with console is keep trying different values until the version you want appears.

Use this if you need the base ID of armors https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1J9quAMtGK70aptz0t5teqWHGZJ9T9uvJmzNEBJEB36Q/htmlview?usp=sharing&sle=true#
