.50 cal weapons
currently in my inventory I have around 3000 .50 cal ammo and I have a modified hunting rifle that uses the ammo, however I was hoping someone could tell me if there was something semi-auto that could take that ammunition to be able to eat through that ammo a little faster. I'm not saying I dislike having so much ammo, I'm simply looking for a more effective weapon in the wasteland that could take that ammo rather than the bolt action type. Thanks!

Give it to your companion. They eat through ammo like crazy.

I learned to never give them the Rocket Launcher the hard way.

I modified the Overseers Guardian since it shoots two bullets for the price of one and gave it to mine.

OG cannot be modded to .50cal.

I hate to say it, but there are no good .50 weapons in the game. Your only options are the hunting rifle or pipe gun. Seriously. The .50 is a mid-tier ammo at best.

You are better off selling those and buying ammo for a real gun.

Maybe you should be looking for a Modded weapon

Yeah...the 308 combat rifle has almost the same damage, more I believe with the OG, and fire faster on top of having less recoil. Sometimes I think they didn't think some of the balance through.

The sniper rifles are the only ones that can shoot .50 sadly. Would of been awesome if they made the AR shoot .50 as well like the M4 Beowulf....

Yes but double damage and low ammo consumption are perfect for a companion is why i did so.

Not knocking OG. It's a fantastic weapon.

foshizzle, I hadn't considered selling the .50 cal ammo, I also have a .308 AR which I use way more often, I tend to switch between that and my m1a1 Thompson, spittin the .45's is alright once you get the 'find more ammo perk' and you have about 3000 bullets for all weapons its fun to just spray things down.

I have a heavily modded .50 sniper rifle which helps me clean out raider outposts without them even seeing me. Don't remember though what the basis for this weapon was ... Hunting Rifle? No, don't think so ...

Can't the Combat Rifle be upgraded to use .50 cals?

No. The Hunting rifle and pipe guns only.

That sucks, you can upgrade the combat rifle for .308 and it does about 65-70 damage.
Imagine how good it'd be with .50

Until someone finds a special weapon that can be customized to utilize the .50 cals I suggest investing in the semi auto rifle damage upgrade perk, I'm level 48 right now and have like 3 upgrades on that perk and the .308 fitted combat rifle does around 120 damage per shot, deathclaw encounters are no longer nerve racking experiences.

I'm not arguing with you, simply curious, how much of the map have you uncovered/how many settlements or buildings have you gone through in your play through so far? I've literally uncovered about 90% of the map cleared probably half of the locations or what some would call 'dungeons' and I'm still holding out to find that special weapon that can fire the .50 cal in semi or even fully automatic.
