Why it's called Brotherhood not Sisterhood? (possible spoiler)

I was gonna side with them, but because of the name I have to choose Institute and correct them.

Institute looks like gonna make the same mistake, while Brotherhood destroy harmful tech.
Institute need to change policy, and Brotherhood need to change name.
Dissolving Brotherhood is the only solution I think.

The Brotherhood was named as such because it was founded by a group of men. If it was founded by a group of women it would have been the Sisterhood.

Strange things happen on the internet but each to their own. Brotherhood is just a name like mankind, it can contain female and male, its not sexist or anything or is it yet another thing the PC crowd want to take away from us. I usually dont get involved in such things but even I have my limits.

Honestly, I am with Freedom on this one, why couldnt it been called something more Gender Neutral? Sure it was founded by men and decided to call it The "Brotherhood" of Steel. Why are women envlolved in the group if theyre called the "Brotherhood"?Something like...I dont know, Iam not good with names. But anyways if women are invlolved then why is it called the Brotherhood? Or was the change impacted opun the group after the 21st Century when they decide they need to add more people into the group(Wich iam pretty sure this is turning into a very easy to debunk theory)and they decided to open the group to women? The 50s weren't a very progressive era, and the Brotherhood isn't a very progressive faction.

Brotherhood of steel is more for that they are a close "famely"
They are build up with more and less military ranking..
But this does not exlude females from being elders

In fallout 1 the council head of the elders council is a Female named Mary.

To be honest i think the brotherhood is more progressive then this chat :P

Same reason as humanity is often referred to as mankind. Istitutions named after women generally only involve women. But brotherhoods can involve both genders. Same with kingdom. Even if the ruler is a queen it's still a kingdom.
