Endurance not raising max HP?
I found a piece of equipment (Fortifying Leather Chest Piece" on a dead Legendary Radscorpion in a house just south of the Drumlin Diner.

It's supposed to add 1 to STR and END. And when I put it on, those changes are reflected in the Pip-Boy, and my carrying capacity goes up. I'm very early on, with really low endurance, so I only have 109 HP. According to the HP formula, when I put this on, my HP should go up to 118 because of the added END. But it stays at 109.

Am I missing something important or is it maybe some kind of bug?

I dont think it does, you just get more HP per level or so I have found but Im no expert.

You get more HP Per level. but i do belive your starting endurance stats make a difference to your starting HP.

But adding any to it does not.

Ahhh ok, so what's the advantage of adding to Endurance with equipment? Running?

I belive endurance doesn't add to your HP but makes you more resistant to damage.

And if it's on armor, i guess its worth it :P

probably a bug, reload after equiping it. each point of Endurance gives you +5HP and +.5HP per level.

EDIT:

that is you instantly get +5HP for each point in endurance, you then gain a +.5 HP per each level, retroactively.

It should decrease the damage you take, and the AP cost for sprinting. Maybe for using VATS too but I'm not so sure.

Endurance raises your max HP and lowers your AP cost for running.

Equipping extra endurance (or popping an endurance pill) should raise your max HP by a tiny bit. If it doesn't, its a bug.

Then how come my level 50 character hasn't broken past 700hp with his starting 10 END?

I've read that the formula is this:

HitPoints = 80 + Endurance * 5

HitPointsPerLevel = 2.5 + Endurance * 0.5

TotalHitPoints = HitPoints + HitPointsPerLevel * (CurrentCharacterLevel - 1)

If so, my HP should go up from 109 to 118. Not a big difference, but I'm just not sure why it hasn't happened. I guess I'll try finding some other equipment that raises END and see if it works.

At your level you should have 505 HP with 10 END, by the information I just gave, well actualy the information I gave gives you 50HP (END*5) + 250 (0.5 * END * Level) or 300. The additional 205 HP comes from the starting 80 HP and an additional +2.5HP per level you get as standard for the remaining 125 (2.5 * Level).

EDIT: please note this won't count perk bonuses to HP.

Ah right, I thought you meant each point in END gave +5hp per level meaning 10 would equate to +50hp per level. My bad.

no probs, forgot to note there are a few perks that increase HP. so those aren't in there. But 505 would be the minimum you have.

I can't say it's the same for Fallout 4 because I've not really looked, but in Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, the "modded" SPECIAL bonuses such as clothing that provided +1 Endurance only added extra Damage Resistance and such, and didn't grab bonus HP. Only bonus HP was awarded through levelling up. This was done to prevent you from dying if you suddenly got slapped in the face with a -10 Endurance attack or something (not that an attack that severe can occur, but I know through certain combinations of Radiation Damage + Adapted Biogel + Addictions you could end up losing up to -7 Endurance overall, only temporary didn't affect perks or HP gained when leveling even when damaged.)

Maybe it works like that in Fallout 4, or maybe it doesn't. Check to see if your DR decreases by more than it should?

Nobody has noted any changes coming from END on DR. Given DR works differently in 4 anyways, it's very very easy to hit the DR cap in 4 with power armor which would make END useless if it worked in that way since you could just go for getting perm power armor. DR caps at 1000, which gives you a lot of resistance. a 1000 damage cap would reduce a 200 damage attack down to like 30 damage and you aren't gunna find many things that do over 200 damage.

Has anyone heard anymore on this like something you can do to get the game to recognize the endurance change and raise your HP? I started the game up earlier and the raised HP was reflected and then it was gone again - probably when I put charisma gear on to barter then switched back combat gear.

Quitting game and restarting does not fix. I can confirm my guy has no status effects.
