Should I join the Brotherhood Of Steel?
What will happen to my role with the minutemen? Will I still be incharge of them, building communities etc. or will that part of the game be over?
I'm level 19 now and through bad skill point decisions am just getting to the local leader perk where you can establish supply lines. I dont want the last 5 levels worth of skill points to be for nothing! Like if I join the BOS will I no longer be a minuteman?

I told the BOS guy I wasnt sure, and he said if I want to join them that I know where to find them.
From what I've read if you join them ---- SPOILERS AHEAD ----
You get awesome weapons, armor, and a jet to fly around with, but only if you join them.
Can someone shed some light on this for me please!

you should. They are not BoS though they are now space marines of the god-emperor Maxons

You can join them and still get the Minutemen ending, but the Minutemen ending is kinda hidden compared to the other endings, all advice I can give you is:

- When you have to pick a faction to help infiltrate the Institute, pick the Minutemen(and by that I mean Sturges).

- Get at least a dozen settlements to ally themselves to the Minutemen, it should really help your cause.

- Keep an ear out for Radio Freedom, you don't have to listen to it at all times, but important Minutemen quests, including the trigger for the Minutemen ending, come from there.

- Wall off and build heavy defenses for the Castle, this doesn't relate too much to the ending, but it helps big time.

If youre only lvl 19 and can already join the BoS, do it, if you want all the shiny things you mentioned in your spoiler tag.
No one forces you to continue their quests ;)
You get a T60b power armor for free (thats the secondmost powerful armor, only the x-01 enclave armor is an upgrade to this)
You can get a lot of fusion cores, because looting most of the containers on the BoS airship is not stealing if youre one of them.
You can trade with their quartermaster, selling quite powerful weapons. (although, the minuteman armory quartermaster sell better stuff in my game.. dunno why.)
You can "call for pickup" with one of these BoS faction smoke grenades (like the minutemen flare gun, but instead of a few dudes with laser muskets a freakin' vertibird appears, you can man the gatling and control its course by choosing a point on your map - like commanding your dragon in skyrim)

The BoS and Minutemen have no beef with each other so you are good to join up. Ad vicorium.

Keep in mind that for some reason against the older games BOS, the Brotherhood is themed on Nazi now and have giant Zepplins and SS officer outfits later in the game, so if your a jew....nope lol

But seriously there not a bad faction, I am doing the good two shoes Minutemen story atm, and got to say its underwhelming and they dont feel very badass, even with the epic "defend the Castle" quest.

bos gives jetpack

you casn build your own jet packs with higher enough science skill. if you join the bos you will miss out on ballistic weave tech though from the railroad.

You can join everyone and get all perks from each faction, you just have to get ballistic weave before triggering Tactical Thinking due to a glitch related to P.A.M., you can even finish the game with the Brotherhood without killing the Railroad by getting Mass Fusion from the Institute and using it to trigger up Spoils of War, which will lead to Ad Victorium and subsequently The Nuclear Option (Brotherhood)

Eeeh, they are more Brotherhood than the Brotherhood was in Fallout 3, following values closer to the original West Coast Brotherhood(just think the Mojave Chapter, they were a textbook original Brotherhood, even if they were cut off from the California branch).

i dunno why you can't just join all 3 (4 if you count mm) and do every quest in the game.

That kinda kills the whole idea of the game however, you would not join USA, Russia and IS in real life today. I would say just stick with one you like the most and play the game over again with another on a new file.
I had no idea there were so many factions! So basically I can join the BOS and still be a minuteman? I can get the local leader perk and establish supply lines, play the minuteman story line, and also do the BOS quests?

I accidently shot a mini nuke inside the brotherhood base.... We are not allies anymore lel... :/
Flame 2512 Nov 27, 2015 @ 6:27am
My policy to anyone asking this:

1) Join
2) Do one mission
3) get full set of T60b armour for free
4) Betray them later down the line if you wish
5) profit

sorry to break it to you but brotherhood is not evil or good in anyway. Bethesda either make them shining knights of the good or evil purgers of stuff
