- When you have to pick a faction to help infiltrate the Institute, pick the Minutemen(and by that I mean Sturges).
- Get at least a dozen settlements to ally themselves to the Minutemen, it should really help your cause.
- Keep an ear out for Radio Freedom, you don't have to listen to it at all times, but important Minutemen quests, including the trigger for the Minutemen ending, come from there.
- Wall off and build heavy defenses for the Castle, this doesn't relate too much to the ending, but it helps big time.
No one forces you to continue their quests ;)
You get a T60b power armor for free (thats the secondmost powerful armor, only the x-01 enclave armor is an upgrade to this)
You can get a lot of fusion cores, because looting most of the containers on the BoS airship is not stealing if youre one of them.
You can trade with their quartermaster, selling quite powerful weapons. (although, the minuteman armory quartermaster sell better stuff in my game.. dunno why.)
You can "call for pickup" with one of these BoS faction smoke grenades (like the minutemen flare gun, but instead of a few dudes with laser muskets a freakin' vertibird appears, you can man the gatling and control its course by choosing a point on your map - like commanding your dragon in skyrim)
But seriously there not a bad faction, I am doing the good two shoes Minutemen story atm, and got to say its underwhelming and they dont feel very badass, even with the epic "defend the Castle" quest.
Eeeh, they are more Brotherhood than the Brotherhood was in Fallout 3, following values closer to the original West Coast Brotherhood(just think the Mojave Chapter, they were a textbook original Brotherhood, even if they were cut off from the California branch).
That kinda kills the whole idea of the game however, you would not join USA, Russia and IS in real life today. I would say just stick with one you like the most and play the game over again with another on a new file.
1) Join
2) Do one mission
3) get full set of T60b armour for free
4) Betray them later down the line if you wish
5) profit
