It's my only dissapointent with energy weapons in this game, because otherwise this is the most i've used, and the most fun I've had with energy weapons out of any fallout game since the first one.
God, imagine of laser shotguns did even half damage per beam. A laser shotgun can line up as many VATS shots as usual and has twice the rate of fire of a combat shotgun (why yes I would like to line up 5 shotgun headshots with 5 agility), it would be so spectacular if it did proper damage.
well, the splitter reduces accurracy and range, the autobarrels too. the result is, you hitting nothing, and that a lot, until the enemy is direct in front of you. its more kinda melee weapon than a ranged weapon...
No matter how weak the individual beams are by default, you are going to wreck high level enemies with that.
