Nick Valentine: Synth Bigot?
Went to bunkerhill and met Joe Savioli and his son, talked with them (i'm doing a railroad character) and to stay true I defended the railroad and said that saving synths was a noble cause, but it said "Nick Valentine hated that". What the ♥♥♥♥? He likes it when you objectify him and say that synths are only weapons built by the institute, and hates it when you say you should try to save them? Can someone explain this without spoilers if possible? This just seems dumb.

Because he knows what he is and dose not try to pretend he is a human?

The Institute threw Nick Valentine in the garbage. How would you feel if your first memory of your new life is finding out you were a piece of garbage?

Probably just that a bug, companion relations are pretty buggy, my waifu, cutie, will randomly dislike ♥♥♥♥ I do, one time she disliked that I was about to throw a virtibird flare.

Some of the interactions actually seem to be wrong from what they are meant to be, telling off Jack Cabot's believes in aliens will have Curie agree with your decision in dialog, but you will get a message "Curie disliked that.", so it is pretty clear it is wrong.
Ah okay. Thought it might have been a bug but wasn't too sure, thanks.

Especially since Nick supports you being nice to the Railroad in every other circumstance. It must be some sort of bug.

I just encountered this situation too and was so irritated I looked it up in the internet.
I am pretty sure it's a bug.
I sympathize with the railroad, too, and Nick always supported me. I have the maximum relationship level with him. So why should he suddenly think that saving synths is bad? It's nonsense.

maybe he disliked what the other person said :P

Doubtful, character like and dislike seems to be about what you do, and not what other characters say.

I always wondered why Nick wasn't more involved with the Railroad. It is doubtless they've scouted each other out and crossed paths for as long as Nick has been in the area. And then there is that reaction at Bunkerhill. Nick never considers himself human since his mind is still that of the original Nick's, he knows he is just a tin man and knows he is different from what Nick was, intimately. It might be why the institute stop using exact copies of human brains and personalities in their synths.

Also I don't really buy that Nick was just thrown away. I think he was meant to believe that, and they wanted to see what would happen if he was thrown into the world. It is a very Institute thing to do imo.
