AWFUL audio quality?
It's only noticeable with the music, but it sounds like a 240p video on YouTube. What the flibbity tibbin heck is going on here? Are the audio files really that poor quality?

Do you start to hear the quality drop after playing for some time? I do get this sometimes, especially when I'm around a lot of generators. Lots of tearing and ♥♥♥♥, but I just restart the game to fix it.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
I have Logitech G430 surround sound headphones. They're Surprisingly nice quality and I use them for music listening a lot. It's definitely an issue isolated to Fallout 4 specifically.
What you said about compression sounds likely. Could I unpack just the audio files??

No, it's not after any amount of playing the game. It's most noticeable when I'm just at the main menu, when all there is to listen to is the music. It has that tin can, muffled, crappy sound... sound xD

Well that changes things.
I'd assume the sound quality would be better IN the game, they can only have X amount of MB's for 'main menu' music.
Why do I get the feeling they took a lot of shortcuts with Fallout 4?....

Are you using your motherboard's onboard audio out?

Unless you're some extreme audiophile, any quality issues are something wrong on your end.
Fallout 4 is probably the best sound design out of any past Beth release.

That would make sense, except I never have any audio problems with literally anything else I do on my computer. None whatsoever. If it's entirely isolated to Fallout 4, how on Earth could it be on my end??

Well then you're being pedantic, just as I am about my "I want this game to STAY on 60FPS indefinately"
We're fussy customers, but that isn't a BAD THING, if anything we're giving the game companies fuel for their fires, we're pushing them to achieve, to explore to expand! :D
I was having some extreme difficulty maintaining an unrelenting 60 fps, too. I finally found the fix. Assuming you're having the same problem as me, then just turn shadow distance down to medium. Just doing that seriously fixed it for me.
Yeah, I am having the same issue with Audio for Fallout 4. Everything sounds like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ low quality youtube video, and I have not been able to find a solution to my problem. I am using an Astro A50 Wiresless headset with 7.1 Dobly Surround sound. I've tried using other speakers/tv/sound bar- but the audio quality is complete ♥♥♥♥. It is literrally only Fallout 4 that I am having this issue with.

That's weird, I have 7.1 surround sound speakers and it ALL sounds high def.

I don't know what it could be for ya, and I don't mean anything by this, but could it be something you are overlooking? I'd have to say it's probably on your guy's end.

I was troubleshooting someone with audio issues last night and it was exaclty because the game got set to 7.1 that the quality dropped. Try setting it to stereo and see if that helps any.

I have Logitech G35 7.1 surround headphones, and the sound seems random sometimes

Sometimes when I start the game and switch the headphones to Stereo, ALL the sound is in the right speaker, other times when I start the game, and I switch the headphones to stereo the sound will be correct.

What do you guys set your headphones or speakers as in Realtek HD Audio Manager when you plug them in?

I don't bother with Realtek Audo manager when using the headphones, because they're USB

I have the RealTek audo manager set to 5.1 for my Surround system because it's 5.1, but I never use it because it's too loud for my neighbors.

Hmm, maybe it's something with the digital connection? You should test out your 5.1 speakers and see how it sounds for just a second.
