He has a really cool looking jacket, but I'm not sure what's the exact name of that style of coat. What's that kind of jacket called?

The game calls it a "battlecoat", but it looks a lot like a trenchcoat to me. The only unusual detail is the complete fur lining. If anything, it looks like a trenchcoat/bomber jacket hybrid. It might also be considered a long avaitor coat.

If you shoot it's several points while fighting Maxson, it will be like you're shooting a metallic thing instead of blood coming out. It's already armored, go check Maxson's terminal, there are notes about it. If you need that upgrade for it, it's just because of gameplay purposes.
