Blind Betrayal [[Paladin Danse Heavy Spoilers]]
This thread will have heavy amounts of SPOILERS about Paladin Danse and the BOS - you have been warned.

So earlier today I completed the question Blind Betrayal. I managed with a bit of reloading to convince Maxson to not kill Danse, did other people spare Danse, or did you fail to convince Maxson to spare him? Wondering what people decided here and the experiences people had.

Thankfully under my Power Armor I was wearing some armor with +charisma, without that I don't think I'd have been able to save Danse, considering I had to reload just to get out of the power armor in advance.

I saved Danse, too, but regretted blowing up the Prydwen an hour later, because I even took his Power Armor with me and wanted to give it to him, but apparently he found a full X01 set and preferred to not talk to me.

Well if you killed the Prydwen, not surprised, even in Exile, he still believes in what the brotherhood do.

Yeah, he still counts as BoS I'm pretty sure if you decide to destroy them

Wouldn't be surprised if Rhys and his pseudo waifu also go hostile when they see you

I know, I still thought there might be some sort of middle way to still interact with him.

They did, killing Rhys felt good, but Haylen didn't deserve it. She even says something like "No... please... no..." while dying. (*Playing in german*)
I didn't even expect her to be there, I thought she'd stay at that post near the Glowing Sea.

I followed the wishes of my comrade, sympathy could not get in the way of duty.
Best quest to show the insidious nature of the synth threat :)

Still, the evil route heh, Maxson be damned, saving Danse is in the interest of the brotherhood.

I had to kill Danse in my playthrough. To me what makes you human is the soul/spirit. Without it you are just a cheap imitation. In my personal belief system only my deity can give you a soul. Everything Danse is is just a pre-programmed computer. Doesnt matter how much Bethesda wants us to take away that Synths and Humans are basically the same. They are not and Maxson is correct. They can/will eventually destroy humanity if left unchecked. Danse is just a toaster with a human face.

all good it's just personal preference. Hey I guess it means you arent cheating on your dead husband. You cant have an affair with a toaster oven.....I think. XD

You're the physical embodiment of what we hate most: technology that's gone too far. Look around you, Danse. Look at the scorched earth and the bones that litter the Wasteland. Millions, perhaps even billions died because science outpaced man's restraint. They called it a "new frontier" and "pushing the envelope", completely disregarding the reprecussions. You're a single bomb in an arsenal of thousands, preparing to lay waste to what's left of mankind. Can't you see the same thing is happening again!

Maxson

id like to point out the brootherhood employs AI, nukes and by virtue of being morons and leaving marispoa ungaurded and never checking in even after finding super mutants caused both the master and the enclaves FEV bioweapon.

frankly the BOS are everything they stand against. to uphold the codex laid by the first elder maxson they must die for abusing technology to save mankind anything else is hypocritcal.

incorrect. The BoS PRESERVES technology. The idea being that when they feel the time is right they will share it with humanity again. But as we see with the Institute people "left to their own devices" cause catastrophe after catastrophe. The BoS is far from perfect but every single faction we've ever encountered in Fallout was flawed because they were mortals. Of everything we have seen in the grand scheme I really think the BoS IS the best option. While I love what the minutemen represent they fall apart to infighting too easily. Peasants with pitchforks essentially. They are defeated by foes time and again because they arent a hardened military machine. They have some ways to operate that confuse their opponents (lore wise). But at the end of the day they cant do more than hold a settlement against huge odds. And in the end their infrastructure crumbles. While I love playing the RR for Deacon and the covert stuff and ballistic weave they are bat***t crazy and there is no way in h**l that I'd every consider joining them if this scenario were real.
