New power armor goes against fallout lore from the previous 4 (possibly more) games
I can understand it being entered like a vehicle, that's the way power armour was always supposed to be, at least the walking tank aspect gives it that and the special need to have training 'drive' it too.
However power armour was powered by nuclear batteries that let them be powered for centuries, not 5-20 minutes, I could understand if a fusion core was an add on to the armour to make it more resistant and give better bonuses in combat, as well as having a range of different specialised fusion cores, though since the armour runs through it's nuclear battery it should still run (at lesser capacity than one powered with one). In that vein the fusion core should only lose power when sprinting, falling from a height or being hit with bullets/energy weapons/a suer mutant with a stick.

Fusion cores should (and hopefully in a mod will) act more like modifiers for the armour, such as 'armour hardening fusion core' 'stealth fusion core (ejocjmakes ' 'Servo overload fusion core (increases strength) 'antirad fusion core' 'stabilising fusion core' (helps with scope wobble) 'AP recharger fusion core' and much more.

It's power armour, not power hungry armour.

You guys do realize you could

A: Use power armor without training in FO1/FO2
B: The new system actually makes more sense lore wise opposed to the "clothing" it was in 3 and NV
C: Its a 200 year odl core thats been fried

Either way it wouldnt matter fusion cores are more than plentiful so I can walk around in power armor all the time anyway. Regardless im having fun being the iron man of the wasteland, I hope a mod makes it so you can have a fist upgrade that lets you shoot plasma projectiles from your power armor fist that drains your fusion core energy, I would also like to see sprinting and using the jet pack booster both use core energy only instead of action points. Would be sweet.

Training died unfortunately.. now anyone can do it

This...before Fallout 4, the Power Armor was a goal, an ideal, an achievement...it was like a graduation after all the efforts made...now is kind of nice to find one...I´m just collecting them...not using...

Saying anything is following lore in this mess is like saying Friends is a spin-off of Star Trek.

Tactics was more closely related to Fallout than this app for the simple minded, then of course the armor is nerfed and everything is just as much "Fallout" as Bethesda is an actual game developer.

It's fine though, since most simpletons will buy anything and apparently quantity of sales is now a measure of quality. By this logic, toilet paper is the greatest huamn invention.

Like the post above me, I can't use this "Armor". It's a fallout without power armor and Ron Perlman, and skills, let that sink in for a minute.

besides, cores weren't a game balancing mechanic. It's a pay-to-play mechanic, where people rank up hours to sell stuff bo buy stuff to be able to play, so that Beth can say "Hey, look at the amount of hours and entertainment this game brings".

Kind of funny how people only remember what they want about the older games but forget the rest huh?

I'd like to point out that I can sneak up to people in my bright red, heavy, clonking power armor.

Meanwhile, when Piper/Cait/Danse/whatever walks around near me in power armor, the ground shakes.

summary of thread: wants to be able to run around in PA without limitations, uses lore as an excuse.

RPGs I would say are an evolving genre. You have the older ones like fallout 1 and 2, and then you have newer ones like fallout 3/New Vegas/4.

They ARE an evolving genre and Fallotu 4 is just as much of an RPG as any of the previous games. I mean hell from a purely mechanics standpoint its a deeper RPG than the witcher 3 or mass effect 1-3. Like the only truly waterd down thing in the game is the dialogue, which really isnt as bad as people make out to be and well mods..just mods..

Its just you have these people who are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuck in the past that if its not EXACTLY how they want it then its for plebs.

The cores we all have is 200 years old, and hit by a EMP. And you expect a nuclear battery for a fusion core to shrug the passage of time and a emp strike off and work like it does new off a factory line? Your proboly only getting 1/4 life at best in these conditions even on the best fusion core. Thats like leaving your AA batteries outside for a year or two and dumping salt on them as well and think they are going to have a charge.

What happens when all the fusion cores runs dry and there isn't any left lore wise? Not like we can keep making more. Unless you know how to make new cores. So far all the cores now is just 200 years old and emp fried. Some could be leaking out and unstable some is dead. Not to mention some could be close to dead like the one in concord with only partial charge.

Why do people keep arguing that power armor needs to be balanced here?

The previous Fallout games didn't have issues with balance, because by the time you found power armor, you were typically facing off against late-game enemies who could tear your armor apart (deathclaws, wanamingos, centaurs, nightkin, etc ).

Power armor *should* make you immune to wild dogs and basic raiders without needing power cores or any other balancing gameplay features. That's the point of power armor.
