Homing Boulders?
Really? To solve a kiting problem with Behemoths you give them homing boulders? And yes they home because i'll jump to the side and the rcok will curve in the air and always hit me.

I like the game but there are some terrible choices here and there to "solve" issues.

Or the rubber band dodge to make you miss. I love Fallout but sometimes it's like a bad game run by a fat greasy D&D DM with self esteem issues. (Majic-user saves 'cause I said so!) Yesterday I literally saw a ghoul spawn-crawl out of a quarry wall. Mole rats pop out of concrete, things spawn behind you in an area you just cleared. While I do like the game, I'm not nearly as immersed as I was in Fallout New Vegas, and I don't do cowboy.

Odd... I've dodged the boulders the few times I've run into a Behemoth.

While on the one hand, I've strafe dodged them in the open...

I've had them basketball shot arc to hit me, when thrown by one below me underneath a highway sky bridge. "There, I backed off to crank up my laser musket. Now he can't possibly hit me-what. well that must have been a fluke-WHAT THE **** there isn't even line of sight and he's UNDER the bridge!"

Must share the same pro bastketball player shot logic as raiders with moltovs.

ive actually encounterd these homing boulders... and homing grenades.. homing molotovs...

its not all enemies, but when i encounter one that has these homing abilities with throwing weapons i bugfix it with TGM.

i cant be arsed with that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ logic that prevents the use of terrain to force a target out in the open to throw ♥♥♥♥ at you while you gun them down, its just TERRIBLE game design.
if it were a 2d D&D turnbased game sure in a fps no

Hey now. be fair.

If it was DnD, you'd have to Save Vs death (take half damage on save).

A boulder taking a 90 degree turn is much more fair than classic DnD.

Fallout 3 and FNV actually have a hidden random roll part of the engine, that's what happens when things rubber band out of the way when your aim is dead on. That's the main reason the fallout games are not FPS games, but classed as roleplaying.

I can attest there the boulders DO have homing capabilities. I had one overshoot me, then loop back around. Most other times when I step aside, they will actually curve their trajectory to hit me. The most egregious example was not two hours ago, I was heading north from Fort Hagen to Sanctuary to stock up, and I had Ada with me. It was really foggy, and midday. As I neared that place with the cars stacked on each other like an automotive Stonehenge, I heard the characteristic thudding, indicating a Behemoth was nearby. Since I couldn't see through the fog, I activated VATS, and found it. I took a shot to get its attention, then backed off under Caution. It spotted Ada and threw a boulder. Since she was standing near some large rocks, the boulder actually CURVED toward her at first. However, due to the rocks, it couldn't hit her directly at first, so it literally HOVERED in midair over her head, jittering back and forth while moving downward, like it was working its way into the hitboxes. Then it dropped and hit her.

Behemoths use aimbots.

A curve boulder?
I'll bet some of those behemoths use to be pitchers in the leagues before they were mutated with the FEV.
SEE ! The Institute did it!

nice necro btw

Well, I *AM* a zombie

I didn't want to make multiple posts when one was already there.

This does certainly happen, even now, over a year after the original post ;)

I was fleeing a Behemoth the other day, I heard the "grunt" it makes when it lobs a boulder, so I jet-pack dodged up into the air and still got hit. When I realised said boulder didn't do the devastating damage I was expecting, I turned to fight :)

I'd accept if a boulder impacting near the player exploded with lots of AoE shrapnel goodness - we just need to dodge harder - however, I took a direct hit while in mid-air lol.

Scoob.
