Is wearing armor under power armor pointless?

Just trying to get a feel, what are you guys wearing if your doing power armor playthrough? Do we still get bonuses off armor while using power armor? I'm fairly certain only some armor bonuses work like the slow down at 20% health effect cos I've have it happen but others like charisma increase doesn't work.

I think PA has its own set of stats. When I got T-45, it gave me 11 strength with only 4. Now I have 10 and X-01 only gives me 11. So I think PA has set special stats, except luck.

I wear armor under power armor for the SPECIAL or other stat increases. Makes a big difference.

But it doesn't work on S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats, I tested it with a charisma hat on while in power armor it doesn't work, only when you jump out of the power armor does it count and increase your charisma.

Well, what happens you a piece of armor of your PA is "destroyed" ? really want to be naked beneath it?

Which leads me to the question "is it the PA case which disables the protection of your body wear or is it the PA armor piece which overrides your bodywears protection?"

Means if entering blank PA case, you have no protection, even if you wear vault jumpsuit and battlearmor beneath it?

I always wear a pretty dress under power armor and imagine what people would say when they see me get out. Badass walking around in super intimidating power armor, only to pop out wearing a frilly dress.

Having the beginning of Iron Man 2 in mind when tony climbs out of the iron man suit in a fine black suit with necktie, on the expo? ^^

It's a shame really, I'd have hoped that armour penetration would be a thing. I.e. damage penetrates the power armour, damaging it and remaining damage is transmitted to the player, at which point their "normal" armour kick in to reduce damage further. Also, haivng a limb - or whatever - 100% vulnerable when a PA piece is destroyed, with normal armour totally disregarded is daft.

Seems Bethesda have taken a bit of a shortcut here and are treating PA like in the older games, so it's basically just clothing NOT the vehicle it in fact is.

I wonder if a piece breaks off and your under armor kicks in afterwards. I guess it just weighs you down and limits carry weight, I think I just use something lighter than combat armor.

I have a Hazmat suit when I stomp around in power armour.
I don't know if it gives any extar radiation protection but hey a litte Rads never hurt no one...
