Just avoid talking to Daemon he is the one to talk to if you want to join
Intersting side note, if you don't come back after to the railroad and get someone else to help you with the teleportation, you fail a quest from the railroad.
Same bloke,different name
The Enclave is the U.S. military. The Enclave has all the technology, science, and engineering capabilities imaginable. Government facilities with groundbreaking satellite communications, the list goes on and on.
I am an Enclave Captain. A U.S. Army General gives me an order to find a way into the Institute.
In the process of following that order; I gather intel from Vic, a civilian private-eye.
I track and eliminate Kellogg to obtain a piece of highly top secret technology, instead of reporting my finding back to HQ, I'm talked in to having my brain connected to a synth with a foreign chip in his head, and all conducted by some back alley crackpot that hardly knows her ass from a hole in the ground.
And just because the so-called doctor is only aware of the "Railroad's" idiot savant 'Tinker Tom', of all people, I'm now quested to deliver highly sensitive U.S. military property to that fruitcake Tinker Tom and the members of his "Secret D_uch bag Club". As if they are the only hope of deciphering a chip?
-- Welp no offence Mr. Mitchell, but either the "Children at Bethesda" were sitting around doing Jet all day when that was introduced, or you have no idea of how the U.S. military operates.
A general gives an order, to discover and obtain Top Secret Intel about something so highly advanced that it has potential to forever change the course of United States history and shift the balance of power.
But instead of returning and reporting my findings to my Commander at U.S. Army HQ, and allowing the Best and Brightest to crack the code, guess what my last mission would be, before being arrested, jailed, court-martialed, branded a traitor, and probably shot! - Thanks Tom. - Might as well take it to the Gunners.
Now... Thanks to you and your hole in lore, I have no choice but to massacre the Railroad - and right after our first meeting, when things were going so well.
-
I WILL BE an Enclave General one way or another!
Despite the booboo in authenticity.
We have reports of another stinking Commie mutant traitor settlement that needs your help - to rendezvous with Chairman Mao in Hell.
I'll mark it on your map - coordinates, 2024.
Or rather, his terminal is: if you truly don't want to work with them, you can unalive him (and the rest of the RR), and you'll find his terminal password on his leftovers, and you can use that to decode the chip.
