Tenpines Bluff happiness plz
I like to make settlements nice usually, but for some reason this one is a ♥♥♥♥♥. It says happiness is critical or whatever, nothing else is though.

7 people
8 beds
12 food
12 water
10 power
80 defense :/
Happiness going down and at like 59%
I got a brahmin and a shop as well

Put down lots of rugs and cover all the walls in paintings. a jukebox also helps. and if you happen to meat a man selling puppies or kittens then they also help raise happiness

Oh and chairs and vendors... your settlers LOVE chairs and vendors
Ranmus Nov 23, 2015 @ 11:08pm
It could very well be a synth.

They do lower Happiness in settlement, those robot spies

Happiness goes down whenever people want something they dont have. Solution? Give them lots of everything. Less expensive/space occupying solution? Give them a moderate amount of furniture, a place to spend their (hard earned?) caps, something to entertain them and a moderate amount of aesthetics to brighten up the post apocalyptic eutopia they hope you'll provide them.

Guess its just a bug.

Rugs, paintings, tons more vendors and chairs isnt helping.

Technically it helps but its not the solution

You have 8 people, they have enough food/water/plenty of defense and shelter, so by all accounts thier happiness MUST be at 70%. There is no excuse and lack of chairs/markets/decor should only be a problem when trying for 100%.

This is the thrid thread ive seen here about this same problem and no one ever has a solution and say the same stuff, chairs paintings, tons of vendors. So it must be a bug.

Perhaps it is synths but if its a gameplay feature that you are to root out synths, logic dictates that there should be a way to detect and deal with them. The only solution people have is the PER perk of detecting enemy weaknesses in vats. Spending a perk point and scanning everyone doesnt sound like a fun solution to me. But i suppose its the only way.

That perk doesn't detect them. Synths don't drop the happiness rating persistently. They carry on normal lives and integrate themselves seamlessly. You can (I have) go around killing everyone to see who has synth components and the reload if/when you find out who but going and killing that one individual will turn everyone hostile towards you.

Synths drop the happiness temporarily when they suddenly whip an institute rifle/pistol out of their a$$ and go nut's attacking everyone. People will get freaked out and mourn their abducted friend for a time and then their happiness will go up again. chairs, rugs etc really are the solution. All is working as it should.

Other things that can lower happiness is stormy weather and radiation showers. things you simply can't prevent. Just give it time and they eventually get over it.

check to make sure there are no random roaches left alive within the zone.
WOneala Jan 9, 2017 @ 8:09am
First, I agree, a few random roaches would help these folks... Wrong kind of roach huh, oh well...
Hey, the issues at tenpines are multitudinous. Terrible ground that no one would inhabit. They need to talk to the folks at Finch farms about what kind of ground to set up as a farm :) so we are dealing with infants, having put yourself in the mentality of the developers. (cannot be sure if it's smoke or shrooms), you have to treat the inhbitants as challenged infants, analyze the issue and off ya go.
Here is an explanation regarding the issue they put in here, (expletive).
When I realized I was having issues with the happiness there, I remembered the two sleeping bags in the shack that cannot be edited out, OR appropriately assigned, they stay red. Period.
That is a clue to my mind.
Then, every time I go there at night, because I've decided im my little brain that sleeping is somehow the issue, it appears that the original two inhabtants are dealing with some issues.
She has put on some really red lipstick and, bottom line, she is taking anyone into her shack every night :0, and the poor guy is up wandering around all night, even if you assign him to another bed. Are you seeing it yet? The sucker is up all night, and sulking all day.
So, the fix I found was to yank the "interloper" outa the shack, and assign the dude to a bed elsewhere, he, (and my wife says in here instance it was another woman, but, hey, not going to judge), anyway, then I go asign the original stooge to his original sleeping bag.
THEN, the both muddle about and dig or do whatever they are assigned to do, (amazing how with all of the weeding going on, none of the weeds are ever gone, and speeking of weeding, where are the Aurelias in this game!) Of course if that weed were around, they would never have nuked themselves and we would not be here pleasantly killing folks with teddy bears...
Finally... after a bit of muddling about,, they will each go to bed in appropriate locations and apparently when this is squared away folks get to SLEEP, and the folks are happier for awhile... until the next guy shows up, the red lipstick comes out again and the happiness starts once again to dip.
Rinse, Repaet.
Having said this, I want to note that I read stuff about having 100% happiness in this game, so, perhaps someone found the good weed in the game, or, and I think this far more likely, they are just far better gamers than I, and of course there is a slight possibility that they exagerate. Me, if I get my folks to high seventies and up to mid eighties across the baord... woo-hoo!

Now let us address the issue that the Joker brought up so succinctly... WHY SO SERIOUS? Lets get a in giggle or two into the next itteration. I mean, yeah, a little cute, junk jet, but otherwise, dry white toast. Lets do it down a new part of the world... I always wanted to see what another country would look like all roasted to hell, das vedanya!:steamhappy:

Think OP didn't figure it out sometime in the four-hundred and ten days between the last post, and your advice?

In case someone else stumbles on this long-lost thread, there seems to be a bug with the mattresses in the shed at Tenpines - they don't count towards the 'covered bed' happiness stat. Once I assigned all my settlers to other beds, settlement happiness started to bump up above 60. Fingers crossed that solves it.
Well for once that was a good necro.
saphire jinn Nov 10, 2020 @ 10:32am
I gave up on that settlement, they are always at 67, i have everyone working, full bars, med, stores, slot machines, weights, tons of food, water and defense and always at 67.
they are just some miserable SOBs i guess.
The Inept European Nov 10, 2020 @ 11:21am
Did you try replacing the beds?
