Yeah, basically stuff like this. I don't have a specific list for you, but this one is a pretty easy miss. Should be a list online somewhere though by now.
Also, some companions have their own side quests when you reach certain breakpoint for their affinity level.

If you don't find a hidden quest, you can at least beat people to death and blame it on your stupidity.
i also found an abandoned shack on the edge of the map in the glowing sea with a huge facility of synths underneath it.
point is, there's probably a TON of areas that arent marked and arent part of a quest that are truly interesting. makes exploration that much better.
they work similar to skyrim whereby once you know a few random encounter spots you can go back to them after time to see if there is a different type of random encounter
there appears to be loads of these spots, some easy to find ones are just a little bit north of the red rocket truck stop, a bit east of concord there is a place with a few vehicles and cargo containers and a cooking station
