Mr. Handy went missing

I got the quest to set up a settlement at the Sunshine Tidings Co-op, and when I got there I set up the Mr. Handy that was wandering around to patrol for bad guys. He helped me clear out the ghouls, and then I went on to clear out some raiders in the camp to the west. When I retured, Mr Handy was gone. I used the computer terminal and it say something like "No unit within range".
I was really hoping that I could use him as a robot guard for the settlement, but he just seems to have disappeared. Any idea what happened?

I just had it happen on a different playthrough as well. This time I didn't reprogram him or anything, I just ignored him and set up my settlement and now he's gone.

Same for me. I periodically revisit the settlement, but he's never returned. I suppose we could try console commands to warp him to us - if we know his ID - but I've deliberately avoided that thus far.

I tried loading an older game to see if there was anything I could do to keep him around. So this time I used the computer to de-activate him. I left the settlement briefly, and when I got back he was gone, even though I had him de-activated. Seems there's just no way to keep him around.

yes sr902, me too I tried to desactivate him but still, he disappear. I hope it can be repaired, because this place isn't interesting at all without him chilling around some crops.

i found mr goodfeels on hester consumer robotics. he went there when you choose return for maintenance.

there are a lot of mr handy there.

Yeah. it disappears if you leave and come back.

He turned evil and I had to shoot him, never gave him the maintenance command.
I believe when I was clearing out Hester or something ?
No worries, after The Mechanist and a few more perks in robotics, you'll built any Mr. Handy you want (minus the junkie, bonus prize).

LMAO 2015, I was 24 yo... And still it was never fixed and I'm 32 ! What a dumb bug, it pissed me off at the time.

Iron Knights is right, you could just build many cool robots with the Mechanist DLC. BUT never you will build a Mr Handy that says "Faaaar ouuuuut". He was priceless...
