why cant i place doors inside building doorways?
there are buildings with there doors removed. i can make doors, but i cant place the in the doorways. where is the logic behind that? (before you say it i know i can place the doors in the doorways i make)

Half assed settlement implementation is the culprit. Mods or patches will hopefully fix it in the future, but for now we're boned.

Probably because there is nothing there to snap to. And doors need something to snap to in order to be placed I think.. which pretty much sucks. I wanted to put in new doors in Sanctuary but nope..

The settlements system is nice I guess but it lacks.. ALOT.

i think buildings just don't have snap points. you need a snap point for a door. nothing more than that really.

With the difficulty it takes to keep settlements at 100% id almost preffer spending caps on a premade 100% settlements and have an achievement for all to be at that instead.

You can use the console to fix that.

Hold the door in the position that you want it in.
Open console and click the door.
Use the following four commands:
getpos x
getpos y
getpos z
getangle z

Then place the door anywhere and enter these commands, replacing <#> with the positions displayed from the last 4 commands:

setpos x <#>
setpos y <#>
setpos z <#>
setangle z <#>

Finally, if the door looks fuzzy/is vibrating, just pick it back up and hit tab.

Without console, there's a metal doorway that you could use Inside of your walls.

These vids are very helpful but SchmootzitheClod's console method is probably superior.

I used the video method to place a door in a ruined home where there was no doorway. I similarly placed walls on either side of the door. The door opens and closes normally.
