Early Silencer

I'm looking to get a silencer mod ASAP... Anyone have an idea as to where I should start? I'd like to get good use out of the Mr. Sandman perk once I leave the vault.

I realize you can craft it... but I'd like to be a silent assassin from level 1.

I don't know anywhere that's guaranteed to drop a silencer specifically for the weapon you want to use. Your best chance is to rush Gun Nut, or start the Railroad and get Deliverer.

Deliverer is the fastest way to get a Silencer really. You need level 2 Gun Nut otherwise. Being weapons are insanely RANDOM on this game and a Silence 10mm would be quite rare even at level 30, you're likely not going to find one just randomly so early in the game.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of really... because to suit the playstyle I'm going for, it means I'll pretty much be locked into using melee weapons to get that sneaking crit + sandman dmg boost... at least to start. There has to be some vendor selling a cheap silenced weapon though...

Try with traders, check their weapon inventory whenever you come across them, you'll eventually find a gun with a silencer. Proceed to put on a new mod in place of the silencer (or removing it entirely from the gun) on a weapons work bench and you will get the silencer in your inventory and can ad it to a new gun.

I do not know if you can put a silencer from a pistol to a sniper rifle (I doubt it), but thats my best advice.

I found a silenced bolt action pistol from the woman at the diner near sanctuary that had a kid with a chem adiction, though I forget what her name is.

Yeah, that's probably what I'm going to do. Not too big of a deal, but, not optimal. Gives me something to work for I suppose.

Yeah, this is exactly why I created this discussion. I was wondering if anyone could point me to an exact vendor. Doesn't seem like it though.

So I realize this is a major necro, but searching for this question brings this thread up so I figured it would be a good place to post a response for others looking for the same info. Trudy (at Drumlin Diner) always sells a suppressed weapon, and that is accessible very early on.
