Unlimited ammo capacity?
I have a gun that says it has limited ammo capacity yet it still uses ammo. Is this a glitch?

nope. it means you don't have to reload. the only weapon that don't use ammo is melee.

In the magazine it has unlimited ammo capacity so you dont have to reload.

Oh okay. Thank you.

actually I take that back... If the gun is gatling laser, you do get unlimited ammo assuming you have at least 2 fusion cores in your inventory. When you fire, 1 is automatically subtracted for the first round, then it won't subtract anymore. it will leave you with a fusion core with (num fusion core - 1)/500 charge left after you fire, at maximum of 99/100 if you have more than 500 fusion cores.

why people have so much problems figuring this out .... when i first got a "never ending" weapon i already figured out how it works .. unlimited magazine size but not unlimited ammo

simple

Thought so until I got one for gatling laser. Not so simple after all... There's two things that are in conflict: the ammo capacity of the laser is drawn from fusion core charge, except legendary perk overrides it into amount of "ammo", i.e., fusion cores left. So the core charge gets overriden by that number after firing.

those are "bugged" exceptions game sometimes makes weird legendary combos like
ghoul slayer gamma gun , freezing flamer , enraging melee weapon etc

also figured that out easily
all weapons and thier custom mods from legendary loot are randomized
hence why you will sometimes get weird combos that may or may not function properly

I bet it's figured out so easily that you didn't ask before assuming the OP's intelligence when he did not point our which gun he was using.

Fair enough. Though the original answer was incomplete, so here's the full answer.

No. It's a noob gun added to the game. They are the 'Neverending" series of weapons. Throw it away or it will ruin your gameplay with utter ridiculousness.

What makes it any worse than other legendary effects or even plenty of perks?

Because it's downright unbalanced with some weapons, a Never Ending Upgraded Double-Barreled Shotgun is OP as hell when combined with Jet, you can take down a glowing deathclaw in seconds.

That really is no different from a lot of other things.

Kneecapping weapons, even on an unupgraded pipe pistol in the hands of a level 1 player character could completely disable a group of legendary mythic deathclaws in seconds, without jet.
Explosive/wounding weapons with a high RoF or as shotguns will demolish anything in seconds, without jet.
My freaking pipe rilfe (.38 later upgraded to .45) has been taking on a long list of supermutant behemoths, mirelurk queens, assaultrons and advanced deathclaws since I hit level 13 for rank 2 in sniper, including clearing the museum of whiitchcraft at around level 25 (could have done it at 14 easily), without jet..... and its not even legendary and I only play on survival.
Overseer's Guardian rips anything apart in seconds, instigating sniper weapons are incredibly OP.

Theres plenty fo other examples I am sure other poeple will bring up.

Jet is actually in a category of supreme OPness in its own right, using it with bufftats and psychojet allows me to facetank sentry drones while I tear them up with my pipe rifle.....
The very fact that you've needed to use jet in combination with your shotgun shows that it isn't even close to the top of the OP tower.

When I took down a Deathclaw with a sawed-off double barrel shotgun that I didn't have to reload, it changed the dynamic of the situation from challenging and believable to downright stupid. I threw it in the ditch.

No, because Kneecapping weapons appear to 'have a chance at kneecapping', along with other weapon types like 'having a chance to freeze/stagger/stun opponent" which depends on dice roll.
Or they have a damage boost..

I personally draw the line at double/triple/quad shot weapons and neverending weapons, because they are for noobs. In fact, I've played F4 99.5% of the time without VATs.

This is a different issue; the weapons in F4 seem OP by default. However, I have noticed this is not the case all the time.. the boost seems to happen at 10, 20, 30 level, but weaken as you progress up to the next (eg. 11, 12, 13-19) where suddenly you cant kill a thing with 10 shots.

It wasn't so OP in previous titles, as their availability was a bit more limited, and the cost of using them was high. F4 is way to lenient on their use, and loot and drugs is EVERYWHERE.. too many bullets, too many chems, too much loot in general. = easy.
