Fallout 4

Fallout 4

İstatistiklere Bak:
any use for pre war food?
i'm doing spring cleaning and i realized i had been instinctively collecting pre war food. in fallout 3 and new vegas certain pre war foods had uses. sugar bombs were used for ultra jet. in new vegas they were used in a variety of crafting recipes.

but i haven't found any use for any of it in fallout 4. i just did a search online and came up with nothing, but game info is still a work in progress.

so has anyone found a good reason for me not to burn this stuff?

(to anyone who says 'lead belly' or 'rad scrubbers', i want you to know in advance that i will be mumbling to myself about your low intelligence)

Some of the food items, like dandy boy apples, are used in receipes but they don't have to be pre-war. The pre-war food is not radiated but never checked to see if it was otherwise more effective as food.
I save them to chuck into my raider settlements workshops in lieu of other usable food.
Aren't sugar bombs used in some recipe? Or is my mind confusing this with something from FO3 or FONV?

Overall, I just use the packaged food items as decorations on settlers tables. But there is a perk that I haven't taken yet that allows you to eat this junk without the radiation side affects. That might actually be useful in survival mode.

I just eat it when I have to, like a true wastelander.

true wastelanders? true wastelanders eat squirrel. i bet you never even saw a wasteland squirrel.

I realise I'm quoting something from a year ago (hey at least I'm not the one who dragged this corpse up), but that's a bloody good point. Where do all these crispy squirrel bits come from? :koh:
and yet unless you have a mod installed, most of the food gets sold even a year later from the first post. O.o
The primary use for pre-war food is to fill you up so that when you eat your stat food the bonuses can be applied (The bonuses won't apply if you are hungry).

Good point. I hope they add wasteland squirrels next update.
Pre War food is super lightweight, also its some of the most valuable item per unit of carry weight in the game.

Now in survival mode the value of the food is what actually determines its usefulness to fill up your characters stomach.

So basically
+++Lightweight
+++Valuable
+++Filling
--Rads

As another poster said, you dont get food bonuses in Survival when hungry so your other option is to carry around heavier food that does not have much value meaning you have to carry even more of it before you can activate your bonuses from super foods.

You could also use farmed foods but these have Rads and are not worth very much in caps meaning you have to consume even more of them to achieve the same benefit, also gaining even more Rads.

A tato has like 0.1 carry weight and value of 4 caps or so.
Melon being the worst at 1.0 carry weight and value of like 2 or 3 caps.

Salsberry Steak has 0.1 carry weight and value of about 25 caps, with magazine buff it takes only 1 steak to change one level of staviation.

I gobble it down. You can give it to your companions to use as cheap healing items.

i would rather burn it than sell it. it is the principle of the thing. i'm not the sort of person that would subject someone to actually eating that stuff.
You could sell it to someone else so they could burn it. Who knows, maybe they're out of heat resources when you aren't. But yeah, principles can be a good thing. :)
A few things are needed for crafting food from the DLC--Dandy Boy apples, Bubblegum, the various Nuka Colas (which you will need for the Nuka World "Beverageer" achievement for crafting all the Nuka Cola recipes), a couple others I can't think fo right now. So I hang on to those because i always will take XP from crafting over caps. But otherwise I just sell them.
