Is there a 50 cal assault rifle or smg or pistol?

Several weapons can have reciever mods to take .50 rounds, including the hunting rifle, combat rifle and one of the pipe pistols. Theres probably more too.

It's a shame you can't mod the Vicke- sorry, the "assault rifle" to be a .50.

Not like that water cooled barrel is good for anything on a 5.56 with a 30 round default mag.

They could have allowed us to turn the assault rifle into a .50 cal machine gun as an additional choice instead of the minigun.

That's because the .50 cal is .50 BMG. You're not going to put that into an AR or SMG. The fact that you can make a .50 BMG bolt-action *pistol* is ridiculous. Possible - for a range queen gun - but still ridiculous.

If you want wicked powah - get a 6-crank laser 'musket' modded out as a rifle. A sneak attack critical could do 600 damage easy.

It's lame how there's no gun in the game that natively takes .50. Only modded pipe and hunting rifles use it. It's also lame how the assault rifle with its big ass water cooler is semi-auto as standard, and you can only ever loot a handful of 5.56 at a time. Damn shame, as it's my favorite to hip fire into groups of raiders. All the purified water my settlements produce goes to my 5.56 fund.

Yes, all that is true. But the OP wants a assault (aka full auto) hand held rifle in 50 cal BMG.
That is absurd, ergo my remark about super mutant using them. Not for humans.
Only for Arnold Swartz and super mutants.
Of course, to be honest, we can lug around mini guns in the game and handle those. wtf?

All that said, I'm looking forward to toolkit mods later on so we can get properly
meshed and animated AK47's and M16 type weapons in the game. I hate the
default 'assault ' rifle that looks like something a plumber (no offense) would create
while drunk .


I do want that 50 caliber Smith and Wesson in the game. Booyah.

Sure - a *heavy machine gun*. Its already ridiculous that you can fire the minigun out of power armor.

If there were a prone mode and you set it up from a firing position to fire outside PA - that would be awesome. But firing it from the hip or shoulder - not even in a Scharzenegger movie.

Of course, it would also be awesome if you actually had a Minuteman militia to command on some of these raids. You set up your firing position and direct them while providing covering fire.
