Starting a previously reset quest?
Quick question, what would the console command to begin a quest that was previously reset through the console? I reset "Tactical Thinking" (Quest ID BoS302B) using the console due to issues with the Railroad, and I can not figure out how to start the quest again. I used the sqo command to look at the quest stages, and all are listed as "Dormant". The setstage command does not solve the problem. Any advise would be appreciated.

For part 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 I managed to do it.
A little more detail: Three columns will appear, all in green light.
Fallout4.esm is the name of the first column, and to the right of that, is the new column you just created, named after whatever you named it.
On the column furthest to the left, I found DNAM - General, and under that i found "Flags." I skipped the second column, and went to the third, right clicked "Run Once" and pressed Edit. The warning appeared and I pressed yes. A new box opened and i unticked "Run Once", and pressed OK. Then I saved (ctrl+s)
The "Messages" tab on the bottom of the box said "Done saving."

Now.. I am not sure about the ESP file...

Basically watched these videos:

and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRqOiM7PsdY&index=4&list=PLE7DlYarj-DdGbu7-Chui4ZQuZZCGbpWl
And found out how to do it!
I went ingame and typed resetquest 00107a1c and setstage 00107a1c 10
And it WORKED! After all this time, it finally worked.. :D It set me back to "Speak to Lance-Captain Kells." So, I went to the railroad church, and I went inside... Guess what? The brotherhood was there, and they were shooting around at the railroad, just like before... :(

On closer inspection, I checked the pip-boy, and I have two samples of the same quest "Tactical Thinking." One which says "Speak to Lance-Captain" and the other one has the first part ticked off, and says "Head to railroad church"...

What do I doooo? ://

Two instances? Reset the quest and see what happens? Maybe try reseting Bos302b as well? I'm honestly not sure how that happened, so I can't say.

btw, sorry for not answering you. I don't check these, lol.

Yeah, I reset it and it did not dissapear from my quest log.. :(
Tried resetting both 00107a1c and BoS302B, neither worked. I just proceeded with the storyline, gave up on the railroad..
But thanks anyway!

I have the exact same issue with the quest Molecular Level and followed your instructions. It doesn't seem to work.

Although I have the feeling that even though I'm telling the ModManager to load the esp file, it isn't.

I've even tried resetting the quest before Molecular Level and it doesn't work.

I can't advance my main story, and have no idea how far back I would have to reload a save.

It still shows Dormant in the console.

Currently trying out your method, Shinkiro0, but with "The Molecular Level" instead. I've reached step 9. ESP file should be generated. I personally used Nexusmods and enabled my mod there, but I am unable to locate the ESP file. Can you share some information on, what to do now?

Update: Found the .esp file, put it into the NMM, booted the game, nothing new.

Bump

For the people who are trying to reset Molecular Level, I would need to figure out what the rest of the flags do before I can try to figure out a fix. I've only recently started dabbling in modding and I'm a bit busy for the next week or so.

Backup your saves and maybe try clearing all flags followed with resetting the quest and setting it to the appropriate stage? That's just a guess and I have no tested it.

Still no progress, stuck.

anybody fix this?

I can confirm the FO4Edit method worked for me with Mass Fusion. Minor trouble when I forgot to tick the new .esp in NMM's plugins tab.

As Some said, the issue is that Tactical Thinking is flagged to run only once. So here is a guide on how to make a mod to change that.

This is a guide for those people that can't load a previous save. This may seem intimidating, but it's actually relatively easy. Feel free to pm me if you want me to walk you through it.
1. Google Fo4Edit, download and extract.
2. Rename TES5Edit to Fo4Edit. Open the Fo4edit app now.
3. Find Quest, then find 107a1c.
4. Right click on 107a1c, and then click "Copy as Override to". Say yes to the warning.
5. Select new file, name it to whatever you want. Hit yes to continue.
6. Right hand side should be highlighted a light green with two columns, one for the original game files and one for the mod that you are creating. Find DNAM-General, there should be a flag for Run Once. For the mod that you named, right click and hit edit. Uncheck Run Once. Hit OK.
7. Ctrl+s to save it. Make sure the box is checked and hit Ok.
8. Make sure that at the bottom of messages page that you are brought to, the bottom confirms that it has saved.
9. ESP file should be generated. I personally used Nexusmods and enabled my mod there.
10. Done. Resetquest, and setstage 10 and the quest should be good to go.

I've only tested this for Tactical thinking. Other quests may have different flags set up, so this fix may not work.

Thanks for having the balls to write this--I mean that. If Bethesda is going to not only NOT fix their fuqk-ups, but impede people from using the console to fix it themselves, then this information needs to spread--widely. This is just one of the many reasons why I don't buy console games anymore..

Way to go, Bethesda!! You've officially turned a developers tool into an end-user's necessity! Fuqking ⅍sholes..

I can confirm that this works for the "Board the Vertibird" bug in the Show No Mercy quest. After following the steps in shinkiro0's post, I was able to successfully restart the quest from the beginning.

Even after doing this though, I still couldn't get on the stupid Vertibird! The action prompt to board it wouldn't appear when looking at it. So, that's just one more quest-breaking screw-up that I had to deal with. At least then, it was docked at the Prydwen like it was supposed to be from the beginning.

At that point, saving the game, quitting, and then reloading that save finally allowed me to board the fuqking Vertibird--after 3 hours of troubleshooting. God, I'm so píssed at Bethesda man.. Can you tell?!

Thank you for this! Fixed 'Call to Arms' just now.
