Yao Guai?
Anyone else have trouble with these? They seem insanely OP even compared to Legendary mobs. If you take cover somewhere they run and hide and if you try to leave cover to shoot them they maul/stun you to death. It's kind of cool that they implemented anti-cheezing code so you can't just get on top of something where they can't hit you and shoot them but at the same time..it's an animal so I should be able to outsmart them and not have to choose to be mauled to death in order to attempt to kill them.

Anyone have any suggestions on these encounters? I'm playing a stealthy type character so I can't take many hits and my opening stealth shot doesn't do near enough dmg to take them down before getting mauled.

I've never had problems with them. I just aim for their legs and they're pretty much useless.

Yeah if you make your character a fat man you can 1 hit them with your rear.

No matter what build you use. Bloody Mess/ better criticals/critical banker and they wont be a problem anymore lol

Thanks for the responses all. I have had better luck with shotguns I suppose but more often than not I get mauled before I can kill them. Shotguns work better at close range but it only takes one swipe to get stun locked and dead. I have tried Molotov cocktails but that only seems to make them angry. I guess I need to invest in better criticals or something.

You can hide, then step out of cover. They run after you, and then you duck back into your doorway or whatever.

So, if you have enough ammo and time, a pipe pistol is plenty.

Yeah, that's what I had been doing mostly but it wasn't that effective. Especially in some situations.

i have a better way to beat them now.


Get in your power armor.Then punch it to death.

Mines are your friend, as well as popping medX, jet, buffout and psycho and rapid firing medium damage weapons.
