Bug: Companion Stuck in "downed" position
My companion is stuck in the downed position. Even when you teleport to a new area, he teleports with you but stays down on the ground. Can't stimpak em (just gives normal talking/command options). Has happened before but not necessarily regularly...

Sometimes when they "die" they get stuck in that status. For me it's always worked to fasttravel.

happened to me when i jumped of the court 35 roof with cait just for the lolz. She was stuck in "downed" position even after fast travel. Tried reloading the game, it did nothing. So i had to load a earlier save which it fixed it

Pretty much this, happened with Piper in the Glowing Sea for me.

FIX FOR THIS BUG: Although it seems counter-intuitive, shoot the heck out of your companion that is downed, until they are in need of a stimpak revival. Use the stimpak and voila! (NOTE: For PC users, you can type the 'killall' command to achieve the same purpose, just be sure there are no NPCs worth saving nearby!)

There is yet another way to solve this problem, at least one that worked for me. I frequently have said issue with Nick, and when I do, I hit him with my melee weapon that stuns folks. The point is: When I stun Nick, he goes from the status "downed" to status "stunned," and after that he gets up as if he hadn't been a pain in the you-know-what a second ago.

I assume that works with every weapon that knocks down, stuns, or whatevers.

This gave me an idea and I tested and confirm it works for this glitch. Target your companion in console, type "kill," and then they'll reset to their downed position. From there, simply stimpak them and they'll get back up! This prevents you from risking any unintentional death using "killall."

This worked for me:

Ask companion to stay.
Then enter/exit building (as in go through door that causes load screen)
Go back again.

Companion is now standing up.

This is a bug that doesn't let you use a stimpack, because the character isn't really down.

I have Strong as a companion; he went crippled just like this, and one whack with my bayonet fixed him instantly.

Remove items from companion you want to keep. Enter console. Point at companion, Type disable (enter) then type enable (enter). Companion is back on his/her feet. requip with items you removed earlier. Do it enough times you will quickly realize what you need to remove, usually any extra weapons other that what they normally carry.

For PC, another solution if you don't want to kill everyone around you with the killall command: open console, click on companion, and type "kill", close console, then stim.

I forget, doesn't Resurrect also reset everything to defaults? Or is that a different game I'm thinking of?
