Hancock died glitch? *Solved*
So, wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if so how to fix it since I almost panicked.

*Some main story spoilers*

Romanced Hancock, did Nick's personal quest and got his perk, took Nick around to find that cursor synth, then go back to Goodneighbor to pick up Hancock, he isn't there. Used console command to 'summon' him, and he shows up dead. I reload to a save where I did Nick's personal quest but did not get his perk since I didn't immediately talk to him afterwards, and Hancock is alive and well. I only found one other person saying that they had this problem after Nick's perk, and thus far the only solution I have is to avoid Nick like the plague and lose five hours of gameplay. Any ideas/fixes? Thank you!

I have a fix!
1: Go up to Hancock, press the tilda to open the console (the ~ key beside the 1)
2: Click on him (an entity id should appear at the top of the console)
3: Type in "resurrect" in the console (without the quotes)
I found that hancock gets stops moving and gets stuck when you do this. If this happens just repeat the resurrection process a few times and he should be back to the way he was.

Perhaps Hancock is supposed to die?
Thanks for spoiling Hancock's story for me. :csdmeh:

Did that a week ago and he wasn't a follower anymore; just stood there. I reloaded save to when he was alive and have been dropping him off at Goodneighbor and he's been fine since. Apparently other companions have been showing up dead so it's a glitch.

If you mean that he is supposed to die? No, it is a glitch, not a story spoiler (Fallout isnot the type of game where a companion dies in the name of plot, unlike some other developers). If it were, I would've flagged it by now. I fixed the issue. If you meant that I spoiled something else, my apologies.

Though I don't condone it, there is a mod for it.

Ah, can't tell with these sites, sorry about that. Got a little freaked out since I hate spoilers myself and didn't want to ruin it.

Eh, what can you do. Try to play it nice unless people get nasty, but I appreciate the understanding :D

I haven't done Nick's personal quest and Hancock is dying for me during Rocket's Red Glare. Midway through combat, he just keels over and I can loot his corpse and everything. :|

It can't be strictly related to Nick as I've only ever had him as a companion during Reunions and I didn't even get the first relationship dialogue from him. I do have max relationship with other companions, though. Namely, Hancock himself, Curie, Cait and Piper.

That is WEIRD. I haven't encountered him dying through combat; if you reload to a save before then, does he die everytime during that battle?

As far as I've tried, yes, he dies every time. He also stops responding to follower commands shortly before this, so I imagine he somehow gets unmarked as a companion/essential and that's what's doing it? I don't know if this is a glitch or if it's supposed to happen.

Someone else reported the same here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/492378806380846901
If you haven't done this quest yet, I suggest leaving Hancock behind. D: Will try a few things in some previous saves and I'll report back if I find anything close to answers!

Edit: Just reporting back, I tried doing the quest with Nick and sure enough, he stops responding to follower commands as well. This happens about mid-way through the quest after taking out the main deck of the Prydwen and before facing Maxson. Nick didn't die, but I imagine that he could have if he'd taken enough damage. Seems like either this quest or this location cause some issue with the followers/essential markers. So be careful who you bring with you, if anyone!

Hopefully the saves help to reload but yeah, totally not bringing ANYONE during that mission. Thank you for the heads up! Don't want our favorite ghoul to die (again) :/
