Lucy Abernathy kidnap quest
So, I saved her, we get out, and she won't follow, just walks off randomly... :S

If I fast travel, she disappears, never to be seen again.

I also wanted to walk back with her to load some gear (I try to avoid fast travelling for realism), but for obvious reasons, is not a good plan as I lose it all this way.

I know how to get a follower to follow (ie : dog), but is there a way to get the saved kidnapper to follow? She runs after me for a second or three, then suddenly stop, turns and walks away nonchelantly, like she just smoked up and totally forgot what's up and lost all inspiration :P

Thanks

Did you try to simply resque her, then FT to quest giver and talk to them? I've only once did this gen-quest, but victim was in a cave right infront of the settlement, so I had no issues :D

well, I finally found a fix with FT, but wanted to avoid it, wanted to walk the whole trek across the map. Can't seem to get the rescue-ee to follow me.

I had to FT twice, after the second time, she showed up with all my gear. This is the first time I FT, and I don't like it personally :P I find if you walk everywhere, it really give more depth to the game, but that's imo. I try to avoid FT at all costs, so I'm a little disappointed I couldn't find another solution to get us back.

If anyone finds a way to get ppl to follow that should, I'm all ears :P

haha, so...

I was determined to do this quest without FT, as I never use it. So I decided to reload my game just as we leave the initial building, and since Lucy Abernathy won't follow me... I'll follow her. lol

After 2 hours of a slow crawl (she doesn't run, unless she gets heated in battle), we made it home. :P I wanted to see where she would go, and sure enough, she made her way back, albeit far from being a straight line. It was interesting to watch the pathfinding she used, haha :)

Give her and AB gun and 1 round, it's interesting to watch her go, lol. Ok, so unlimited ammo is far from realistic, nor is a teleporting and indesctructible dog, but for traveling, I choose realism and walk everywhere (ok, and sometimes run :P).

Note, the Abernathy's have something against two-headed deer and get really upset, determined to destroy them at all cost. It's fun to watch with the AB gun, lol :D

Some would consider a 2 hour trek incredibly dull, but believe me, between her antics, and having to save her butt a few times from nuke-shootin' raiders or a band of mutants, it was actually fun, and often funny :P

Just thought I'd share, lol. Hope you're enjoying this game as much as I am (despite the frustrations of building walls that snap however they want or junk walls leaving big gaps no matter how you try to place them :P ).

Blessings y'all :)

I cant even rescue here. All the doors all locked by a master terminal device. Uhmm

Help?:P

I believe the location of the quest is different each time. I don't remember locked doors when I did this quest (I waltzed into the front door). Coincidentally, I did run into a building today that didn't have a quest related, but the door said that same thing. I tried looking all around inside and outside the building, but never found the terminal (a building just east of Diamond City I believe, with a couple elevators at the entrance?). I'm curious about this as well.

I'll be trying that building again later, it's bugging me :P, so if I figure it out, I'll post a message.

The building I couldn't get into is the Ticonderoga. There is a terminal, but I don't want to spoiler the info :P

I coudn't open the doors because of the master device on both sides. The quest for me was talking to the Abernathy Farm, then travel to Federal Ration Stockpile. I searched for over an hour to unlock or maybe a key somewere but cound't find anything. I tought it was bugging me so I left and restarded. Now I was turning on my device again and it was telling me I failed the mission. Too bad, she died.

She might still be around, I'm not sure. Main characters don't die, the quest fails, and that's all. So check again at Abernathy Farm later in the game, you'll probably see Lucy there again :) I've watched a character in another settlement get shot, fall to the ground after a barrage which should have killed him, and later, after the fallout (no pun intended, ha), he gets back up again and walks away without a scratch. So yeah, I'll be surprised if you don't see her again later in the game :P

I find I get too many kidnapping, etc. quests from Preston which I prefer not to have. Here's something I'm using that will stop Preston from bringing it up:

Just wanted to share in case you're interested. Have fun traveling the Commonwealth :)
